I read an interview with Meehan, and i dont like 'buying into' boxers pre fight talk... as i know its usually nonsense, but i really liked the way Meehan came off, and i guess theres a few here who thinks he stands a good chance against Chagaev, so im actually interested in the fight (i for one figured it will be a one sided affair) I def think Chagaev is a class above Meehan and would LOVE to see him vs Haye, I simply think hes on another level then meehan and while Meehan is tough and rugged with a decent punch, i just dont think thats enough against haye, however, Chagaev, if in decent condition, can make a real good go of it. If its not Haye vs Adamek (should he beat Arreola) or Wlad, Haye vs Chagaev is also a nice fight IMO
agree for the most part, but for some reason i think haye will dispatch chagaev, but may run in some problems with durability of meehan. either way it may look exciting
That Chagaev looked unimpressive against a Matt Skelton who went on to be stopped three times in his next four fights says much about his level. Although he too beat Valuev he did it in a different fashion, and while landing more punches also found himself easy to hit in the latter stages. Not every one liked Haye's performance against Valuev but his intention was clearly to outland him while not getting hit, and it worked. Perhaps he even won more rounds than Haye but the fact is that he's painfully easy to hit. Chagaev would come forward against Haye in his usual style and find himself stopped in the latter third of the bout, possibly sooner. Drummond certainly didn't have a problem landing and Wlad could definitely had stopped him earlier had he employed a slightly more ambitious style. Meehan, I can't really comment on as I haven't seen much of him since the Williams destruction.
Ofcourse there is relevance because David Gaye is likely to schedule one of them into a fight so he can continue to duck the K bros. That is, assuming that he would win a rematch against Valuev. :deal
Chagaev is a former champ and legit contender. Meehan is mediocre fighter who has no change against Haye. Haye would win both matches but Chagaev is clearly much tougher challenge
meehan would floor haye when he connects. he simply has too much power for haye. valuev point blank refused to fight meehan cause he did not want to be ko'd. he spent two years dodging him by fighting holyfield and co. but he had no fear of haye flooring him.
Whats Meehan done since this? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LBGsV4BYDo"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LBGsV4BYDo[/ame]
Chagaev is a better fighter than Meehan but I'm struggling to think of when he last actually impressed me. Haye beats both of them without too much trouble.
