Instead of making an immature smart ass retort, why not have a go at my "riduculous logic" regarding "World class".

Your logic refers to elite athletes competing at the highest level when they are vulnerable, ie; unfitt, wieght drained, to small....wah wah...excuses not acceptable anecdotes to the definition.

Let's see it smart ass, stick to the rational facts!

These are some definitions kid.

 

I remember Jeff making (I think) his first TV running commentary.
Marty Feighan was fighting Mark Cribb.
Mark was giving slow starter Marty a boxing lesson in the first round.
Jeff had him beat there & then.
Round two & Jeff was making comments like "Marty needs to find another sport/profession"
Near the end of the round, things start to change a bit but it didn't phase jeffs opinion.
Round 3 & Marty got his distances worked out & started getting the good ones home. Bang,,, down goes Mark.
He get's up & starts stamping his feet to shake off the pins & needles.
Marty moves in for the coop de grace & it was all over red rover.

Wasn't one of Jeffs better nights.

Mate, world class is a transistional state. Fighters come & fighters go.
I don't know where you've developed this notion that fans decide whose world class or not.
The people making the fights promotors trainers etc are ducking, dodging, cajoling & pandering to the world class, because they have fought their way into contention.

My opinion of Nedal Hussein was world class, but that was on potential. Getting the right fights at the right time.
It was not to be. He was never afforded the chance to prove he was & when he finally started to get a look in. His day had passed him by.
It had nothing to do with paquiou. It was my opinion on potential.

Don't confuse World class with world champion.
Many world class fighter don't win credentialed belts, but they are long remembered.
Go the distance with a current top tenner will get them pretty close.
No one is going to write a fighter off in the first few fights because if they know what they are talking about, they will tell you "He's in the big league now. It's not how good you were to get here it's how much you learn & adapt from here on in."
That's World class.

You can't definitively say a prospect is world class, and as far as it being a transitional state I understand where you are coming from but at what point does it become "cherrypicking" fighters on they're way out because like you said previously you define it as someone who will:

"fight anyone that is in that group & who got there with decisive victories over quality fighters."

You can't make a concrete definition of it in terms of boxing, and like I said that's why fans of the sport debate aspects such as resume, prime and so on....
