I've read that he might get stripped of the WBC title, but after taking a look at the IBF rankings I was pretty surprised to see that they don't list Alexander as their champion, instead they have the title vacant. What's going on here? The ranking is from the 23rd of March 2010.
he's probally been elevated to super champ or some crap like that. does it really matter we know he never lost the title in the ring
I would guess that when the website was updated, the IBF hadn't received their sanctioning fee from Alexander yet.
Good grief. They're going to have to come up with a new name besides paper champs because at this rate, there's gonna be more champs than paper.
Alexander is still the IBF champ. It's just that the IBF's rankings are as ever full of errors. They've listed Valuev as the WBA heavyweight champ. They've listed Kotelnik as the WBA lww champ. They've listed Brian Magee & Martin Lindsay, two Irish fighters, as 'English' & 'Israeli' respectively. Worst of all they have listed Danny Green as their seventh ranked cruiserweight. Ridiculous.
With all the money they got, they should really be able to find someone to keep their standings up to date...
