People often say Mosley was better at lightweight than at welterweight, but I don't really think Mosley was any better at 135 than he was at WW in his late 20s/early 30s. I think it was more of just facing better opposition at 147 and also a real tough style matchup in Forrest. Since then, his performances have been up and down, and where I definitely see a decline in performances along with weight is when Mosley fights at 154. That's where he certainly is inferior.

But I think Mosley was just as good at 147, from 1999 to the early 2000s, as he was at LW. He looked probably the best he's ever looked in the first bout with DLH, and also looked great in other fights against Wise, Taylor, and Diaz (less so with Rivera).

    Opinions?

I think he was better in his early days at welter than he was at lightweight and even though he was moving up in weight he looked faster and a better puncher at 147 than he was at 135,then came the first loss to Forrest and since then he has never been the same.

I think he was, because the fighters were not as strong as him, and he had equal handspeed. Mosley was very strong at lightweight and the smaller shorter lightweights were easier for him to overcome some of his technical issues. Mosley showed some real shortcomings once he was outsized against a good tall outside technician. Guys like Trinidad, Forrest, Quartey, and even a prime Vargas would have always given him a lot of trouble.

He got in there with some great welterweights. The fights he will be remembered for happened primarily at WW. It's tough to say because he didn't fight anybody like DLH, Forrest, or Vargas at 135, but he was undefeated at the weight and had a great size advantage.

I think he was a great fighter.

I'd agree with that, yes he may have been a tad better at WW but he didnt have the same physical advantages
