    "Floyd Mayweather Jr. beat Chico, but he only beat Chico because they threw the towel in. If that fight would have gone another 2 rounds, Chico was going to knock him outÂ… He believed if you knocked me on the canvas, I'm going to get up and knock you out."

    Obviously Chico wasn't going to win had they not thrown in the towel. However, this quote embodies what Corrales was all about. No matter what, he always felt he could win. He never gave up. He was one of those rare fighters who loved to get into brawls and get hit. The sport could always use guys like Chico.

    I dont think they threw in the towel.

    IIRC, ringside physician Dr. Margaret Goodman urged the ref to stop the fight because Corrales suffered a busted jaw.

    Yes he did.

    He yelled at his corner and got mad after his 6th knockdown.

    They jumped on the apron.

    What fight was I remembering?

    I sorta remember Chico pleading to the doc to give him 1 more round, he was bleeding in the mouth and he was upset that the doctor was wanting the fight to be stopped.

    It doesn't matter if they threw the towel in or Fan man stormed the ring, Corralles at that point was just cruising for brain damage. Mayweather was humiliating him at that point and unlike Castillo he wasn't going to get caught.

    That's not the corrales/may fight.

    He still had his wits about him and wasn't really beat up... he just ran over to the corner and said "NO DONT STOP It" while his trainer was on the apron waving the fight off

    :lol::lol:

    Yeah, the chain knockdowns, 7 or 12?, had absolutely nothing to do with it. Chico was only regenerating rage in the process and when the time came to unleash it they immediately stopped it to avoid deaths in the ring. The amount of times he went down would make you think it's a new ballet dancer in training, literally.

    That was Corrales for you. He had about a .0001% chance of winning, but still wanted to go on and was mad when it was stopped.

    A commentator (I think Al Bernstein) said years later that Chico didn't talk to his stepfather after that.
