Vitali has already hinted at retirement

Maybe Haye means if he doesn't get to fight Vitali for a title then so be it?

I dunno. He's not ready for either yet - Frankly I think it would take him a couple of years to acclimatise to the division better.

Vlad does not have a bad chin. Did Lewis have a bad chin? Vlad will knock Haye out which is the reason Haye broke the contract and ran.

After all the trash he's talked and the opportunities he's backed out on, not having a Klitschko on his record would probably be worse than losing to one.

Give me a break, that's the kind of thing you say about a 23 year old (e.g. tommy morrison). He's 29 year old and in his prime. We need to see this fight now before the Kilt's are in wheelchairs. Amazing how people thing if a fighter loses one fight his entire career is forever changed. That happens sometimes, but it's really more psychological then anything and there's no reason a great fighter can't bounce back from a defeat.

He needs them for his legacy, just like they needed Lennox for theirs'. Those questions will never get answered.

Vitali mentioned he'll retire soon. He turns 39 in a few months. Haye proclaimed he'll retire at 31, he is 29 now. The only one of the belt holders not talking about retirement is Wlad, who just turned 34.

If Haye wants a spot in the HOF, he will need to defeat at least one Klitschko, better both. There is no way he secures a place in the hall, if he fights only 1-2 fights every year at HW, ducks both Klitschkos, and retires at 31.

Defeating Ruiz was a good start, though. A rematch with Valuev won't add to his legacy. Chagaev, Solis, Arreola, Chambers, Povetkin, Helenius, or Dimitrenko would do more for his resummee.

  7. If he wants to see any benefit out of this deal he needs to play some hard to get. Hisotry shows Haye is keen as a little sluzza.

It's seemed pretty obvious Haye has not been overwhelmingly inclined to take his chances against either Klitschko since he acquired the WBA. Once he got that belt his whole attitude changed.

    1. Thats not relevant to your thread title.

    2. That quote doesnt mention anywhere that Haye thinks he doesnt need the Klitschkos. In fact it does say that a fight with them would be huge for his legacy. That would say to me he does believe he needs to fight them.

On a personal note, although Wlad would definitely be the favourite, if Purity, Sanders and Brewster can stop Wlad, you have to give Haye a half decent chance.

    How?

He's only had one mandatory fight.

All he did was trash talk his way into title contention. It was one of the best examples of a Smoke And Mirrors job.

I love the way the OP has taken what Haye said out of context. Watch the actual interview he says he wants to retire at 31 he wants Vitali or Wlad next! and if he cant get them in the next 2 years he will ned to find someone to secure his legacy.

His rhetoric. It changed. The difference was apparent straight away.

It looks that way now. Certainly.
