which is better, an overweight fighter beating a fighter coming up in weight (and within the agreed weight), or a fighter coming up in weight beating a weight-drained fighter? if dela hoya was overweight in his fight with pac and managed to beat pac, is it better than pac beating a "weight-drained" oscar? same with floyd and jmm, if floyd tried to cut 2 pounds and became weak because of it, and jmm somehow managed to beat him, is it better than an overweight floyd beating jmm? your thoughts?
Overweight as in out of shape? The fights would never really happen then. If for instance someone like Oscar tried to show up and fight Pac looking like Sturm
The DLH/Pac example is not a good one because De La Hoya was within the weight limit weeks in advance. He wasn't 'drained' in the sense he didn't have to excessively de-hydrate before the weigh in.
JMM beating Floyd would of been greater than Floyd beating JMM. And someone that is severely drained like DLH who weighed less than Pac. Wasn't going to beat him. If DLH managed to land a punch that KOed Pac it would of been expected, despite how drained he was.
Pac's win was nothing more than hitting a punching bag. He weighed LESS than Pac in the ring. It's just one fight. It doesn't define Pac, who went on to beat Hatton and Cotto.
yes, I agree, excessively. There simply is no proof or evidence to suggest DLH was weight drained for that fight.
yes, you are right. Weighing in at a weight doesn't mean you are weight drained. DLH was at weight for the weeks leading up to the fight, and to my knowledge, he or none of his team has ever said he was weight drained for the fight. These are the facts. You are just believing what you want to belive.
Weighed above? That could mean 151. Which isn't good enough. And no it's not better. It will never be better.
What? Most fighters are drained at the weigh in, to an extent. Some worse than others. there was also reports coming out of his camp that he was getting his ass kicked, needed to retire and didn't look good. Im believing that Oscar weighed 145 in the ring. A weight he hasn't weighed in the ring in probably since his career started.
