Lightweight version of Mosley would beat Duran's lightweight opposition and vice versa and the same goes for welterweight with the exception of Mosley beating Leonard.
I'd have it the opposite way: I think Mosley was quicker and more powerful at 135 (as well as being a better rounded fighter with a more solid jab and body-work).
Mosley is getting underrated by some on here. I'd pick Duran most times, although in a series I see it being split, each fight would be close and Duran would have to go through hell and fight the right fight utilising his skill and defense to outslick Mosley. Mosley was a beast at LW if Duran exchanges and goes toe-toe Mosley is going to fire off combinations and probably hurt Duran to the body. Mosley loved opponents coming to him and going toe-toe, the only times hes lost has been to slick rangy boxers, even Cotto had to resort to back foot boxing. Durans better defense, timing and general skill should see him outbox Mosley for periods and get the better of it. Mosley may not have fought great competition at LW, but he did dominate some very good opponents and proved himself against great boxers above the weight. Aside from Buchannan/Dejesus Duran's LW comp isnt really looking better As for the Leonard-Mosley comparisons, Mosley isnt half the boxer but at mid range hes allot better, hes a bigger puncher, strong and wrecks the body Stonehands is spot on with his analysis
Mosley would be far and away the best fighter Duran ever fought at lightweight. Duran might win a close decision but it is a terrific match due o Mosley's speed, power, chin and stamina at 135 ...
Duran has that advantage too, though. Duran was basically a brawler who specialised in out-thinking and out-slicking other brawlers. He does everything Mosley does, but better (and has a decisive advantage up close) - that makes for a thrashing. This is no knock on Shane.
You would have thought given his rangy jabbing and moving, but he's actually dwarfed in this one (as is DeJesus, on second thoughts). Mosley might just be too physical for both of them.
All these points are irrelevant. If Mosley is "far and away" better than Ernesto Marcel, Esteban DeJesus (X3) and Ken Buchanan, Duran must be something close to God compared to Golden Johnson and Philip Holiday. Duran has close to as much functional speed as Mosley and has more proven "power, chin and stamina" by some distance.
Everything better? Size - Shane Speed - Shane Strength - Shane Power - Shane (big statement, functionally Duran is better at landing his big shots and Shane not as good, but in raw power I'd go with Shane) Chin - Shane Bodypunching - tied Duran has massive advantages in defense, timing, shot picking and thats why he wins
I would pick Mosley, but Kennys movement and skill would see him do well perhaps and be a trickier puzzle to solve
Shane would push Duran to the limit...but not win. Duran's technical skills and defense allows him to escape with a narrow points win.
Obviously Durans better competition, but the fact Mosley dominated good competition at LW and jumped 2 divisions to beat the best at WW shows he has the ability to hang in this class. Mosleys comp isnt as bad as you make out, Leija was an ex champ on a good run having just beat Azumah. Holiday was an unbeaten champ with 7title fights. Molina was an ex champ Just because Mosley doesnt have experience against greats at LW doesnt mean he hasnt shown he has the ability to beat them (not that I'm picking him here anyway )
