You have not heard me say that. I like Arreola, I think he has skills and power. I just think he was very green when he fought vitali.

Not true, when Lewis retired he was recognized as number one and beat #2 Corrie Sanders to cement this for the vacated Ring Title. Of course he only managed one defense against Danny Williams before retiring for four years with injuries. He was certianly number one but for only two fights.

people talk **** about Vitali's opposition but a question to the haters, who would YOU have him fought to have a "better" resume? Resurrect Liston? Time travel to fight Ali/Frazier? seriously he fought the best available you cant knock the man for that.

    Haters gonna hate.

In a lot stuff I read from the 50's, Marciano was seriously under-appreciated, labelled as less talented and very rough in his fundamentals. Lennox Lewis, likewise, was considered boring, unfocussed, a bit lackadasical in the ring and one who never reached his potential.

Now both are considered all time greats.

Im not a hater of Vitali, but hes been placed in ATG lists where he really doesnt belong. Yes hes fought everyone availabe but I do think he bitched out against Rahman, and he lost to Byrd and Lewis. Everyone else hes faced for the most part has been pretty **** poor. I dont rate guys like Danny Williams, Corrie Sanders as much of anything. Those guys were a level below of the guys Lennox Lewis was beating, and I think had Vitali came into his prime in the mid 90's he would have fallen in line nicely with those guys. The Rahman, Tua, Grant, Briggs level guys. Just my opinion though.

Seriously, Vitali is a full level above Rahman, Grant and Briggs. I do not think he "bitched out" against the limited and somewhat dangerous Rahman. I mean, he came back and immediately fought a much more dangerous fighter in Peter. How many knee and back surgeries had he gone through at that point? What is miraculous is that he came back and retained so much ability, though I think he is slipping now.

I think hes barely a level above them, and would have a very difficult time compiling the same record he has against his current opposition.
The Peter that Vitali fought was not very good, not even as good as the one Wlad faced.

I think Vitali had something to do with that.

But no, Vitali is no Lennox Lewis. Few ever were. I think we can agree on that.

He looked horrid against Mcline before the Vitali fight.

Peter is not more dangerous than Rahman. Rahman knocked out Lennox Lewis. Vitali really damaged his reputation in that one. Cancelling the fight 4 times, then going thru the weigh ins only to cancel once again and retire. Hasim Rahman would have been the best fighter vitali would have ever beaten, which speaks volumes about his lack of a resume.

1998-2002- Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Ike Ibeubuchi, David Tua, John Ruiz, Hasim Rahman. Maybe one of those men?

As for recently, Alexander Povetkin, Nicolay Valuev, David Haye, Ruslan Chagaev, Eddie Chambers,

He was falling apart, had multiple back and knee surgeries. He did the right thing and retired rather than hold up the title any longer. I think that was commendable. In regards to Rahman, Peter both gives and takes a better shot, though the latter ability is probably on the decline.

Peter gives a better shot? Who has Peter ever knocked out? Rahman knocked out multiple top 10 fighters and a ATG champion.

I have a Ring mag, in front of me Dec 1952,it's cover has drawings of Marciano and Dempsey in crouching/charging pose, the accompanying article entitled Marciano ,Another Dempsey ?Was very uncomplimentary to the new Champ, calling him crude, and wild swinging, compared to the Mauler, perhaps time, and distance is needed to gain a real perspective on any sportsman?
