Not really because Sylvester is not my idea of a world class middleweight regardless of the belt. Fighters make the belts. Sylvester has been fighting on the European merry-go-round of middleweights. Asikainen, Castillejo, outclassed by Sturm, and so on. You couldn't really say Sylvester has a single world class victory. There are better middleweights coming through than Matthew Macklin. If they get to a title before him he'll have no chance. If they don't he'll keep the belt warm, just don't let him near a Kelly Pavlik, Williams or Martinez.

Just because they may not be at elite level, I don't see why we cant argue about who is better. :conf If boxing were done right those guys would be facing each other 2-3 times year for the European title, beating lumps out of each other to see who was the best out of the lot.

In my books, if you win a world title, you are world level. If you defend it consitantly against top challengers you are elite. I know there are better middleweights coming through than Macklin, never said there wasn't, not did I say he was the best. In fact, imo, the best middleweight, Golovkin, isn't even a champ. I said Macklin can step up at world level and get a belt. And I stand by that. I also give him a chance against any chinny fighter he faces too.
Barker > Vera So therefore Barker stops Lee sooner than Vera did. Only legitimate scenario that fight could have. But with some hard work Lee could be competitive with Barker for sure

I don't think Sylvester is a yardstick for world class. Yes by definition one could claim that technically he's world class because he's won a world title but its smoke and mirrors more than anything when all you've done is beat Sylvester because Sylvester's claim to world class is built on a fraudulent foundation. Macklin might just be chinny himself IMO. I've got a feeling he doesn't take that great of a shot at middleweight having watched him against Ajetovic. He didn't convince me he was that durable under fire in that fight and he's had early nights since. Who knows how he'll actually be when tested. You've mentioned one guy yourself, Golovkin would spank him easily.
