You can go back to older threads and find me smoking up Lee's arse too before he got found out. Barker for me tonight lost. Unfortunetly he gets a win instead of a loss so he can carry on. Barker beat a guy Lee beat. We need to see them fight each other but the banter is great... I do not think we are any closer to Lee and Barker fighting and I would imagine that Barker would change his ways and improve and fight a better fight if he was to get in the ring with Lee. Based on tonight I would fancy Lee probably by stoppage.
Lee and Barker are cut from the same cloth...they both look great until they gas and then the wheels fall off badly. Lee hasn't got any sort of defence to keep him out of trouble and Barker doesn't have the power to discourage an opponent. I've never reckoned much to Barker and tonight confirmed my belief, however I hold Lee in the same esteem...although as a personality I have always found Andy Lee to be a very pleasant lad indeed
Icemax is spot on. The exact same flaws. Barker is a little more competent in close mind, Lee is a rank amateur when anybody gets within his reach. Lee has better handspeed and a little more power though I reckon Not much between them, neither look to be reaching what was predicted. Barker should be doing a lot better than he did toinght though. He got his tactics the wrong way completely. He should have been boxing when he was punching with more authority early in the fight, and digging in later in the fight. You can't box and move when you have no pop or steam, horrible corner he has. He made it difficult for himself by wasting energy early in the fight.
aside from all the bull**** here .. well done to barker tonight:thumbsup... it wasnt a great performance but tacticley he got it wrong... more boxing less bravado was needed... you got to realise barker may have been trying too hard to impress to night with having no tv contract and all .... these boxers are human and make mistakes underestimating opponents like barker tonight and lee against vera.... all the same i would love to see lee against barker... and i think lee would have too much firepower for the english man... but im glad barker won tonight:happy:happy
Barker is average. I have regularly criticised Duddy and Lee when they have had bad performances, but Barker would get an ass whipping off both of them.
& whilst everyone fights amongst themselves, dunky sits back smug in the knowledge that Craig McEwan is going to be the real star out of them all I warned you all ages ago, but would you listen??? Craigs in pole position now, even at this early stage:smoke
in truth good luck to Barker. I like the guy as a boxer and hope he can step it up because he fought the wrong night tonight. I just think some on here need to look at fighters a little more objectively in future.
so who has that lad fought again? dont get your hopes raised too high or they might come crashing down again just like that other perky appleby:yep
err, Vera? You know the guy who beat Lee, Who later later had a struggle against the wee french guy who just beat Barker but didnt get the decision? Do I confuse you? If so, just boxrec it all, thats the advice I give to everyone who gets confused here... So go & dive in KO Artist, its got fighters records & everything over there!!! Its even got a beginners forum too, I believe its called the British & Irish forum? Its just like Sesame Street, with Stujones being their very own version of Big Bird... Sounds like fun, eh?:deal
Worst scorecards since Holyfield Lewis 1. I had it 8-4 or 7-5 for Belghecham. a draw would have been a stretch. But 118-110 ???? Clearly that ****wit had his card filled before he got to the fight. The only thing worse than the judging here was the commentating.
Doesn't matter Barker scraped home now. Everyone wants Macklin v Barker. Still a boss fight even if Barker stunk the place out. W next to his name.
