    Agreed was it me or did Barkers stamina seen quite poor in the 2nd half of the fight? and it had been discovered b4 that his chin is questionable! I think andy would beat him quite easier than ppl will expect! a much easier way to get a euro belt then goin through macklin ill assure u!

    :lol::lol:

    I buy the newsletter now and again for a wee change and sometimes notice a wee stare from one or two customers on the way out. :nut :yep

    But I will be getting it every Friday from now on as that boxing spread is top notch. All irish articles - no filler. The column is a great idea, Sinky talking boxing every week is great. They had McCloskey, Magee, Carlos and Sinky - excellent stuff.

    I would love to see the Irish News get in an Irish boxer Columnist - my choice would be Rogie. His last two assessments on the Ruiz-haye and Sprott-Harrison were spot-on - much better than what I have read anywhere else.

    Macklin leaves a wee dig in on Barker - "is hopin that darren barkers gettin exposed tonight wont take the shine off a future fight"

    Maybe Boxing News can now crawl out of his arse and give Duddy, Lee et al a bit more credit in future.

    The other good thing about the fight was that making fights with Barker will now be easier because opponents wont have as much to fear from him now the bubble is burst.

    Brick Fists was at the fight last night - what did it look like in the flesh?

    Barker didn't deal with Belghecham especially impressively and that 118-110 scorecard was a plain joke. He was pot-shotting and flicking backhanders from the sixth onwards, just stealing rounds. If Affif could punch...

    Still would like to see him scrap it out with Lee or Macklin though for the sake of domestic boxing, we always need our best to fight one another.

    I think Barker looks class when he's allowed to stand in front of someone and tee-off (although doesn't everyone?) but when he's pushed back and pressured he doesn't fancy it as much.

    Great to see big Mick Hennessy back and sporting a homeless beard as well.

    I thought he was going to get Belgacham out of there after 3 rounds and was preparing to eat a bit of craw if he did - but as the fight went on Barker faded badly - on that performance Macklin would destroy him and Duddy (who they have made an approach to) and Lee would have more than a sporting chance against.

    It's old school mentality, I've noticed what professional boxing they do report on is on their terms only. They had no problem reporting on Brian Magee's European title win, but blatantly refuse to acknowledge Martin Lindsay's latest win. RTE are also very reluctant in broadcasting any boxing from the north, but yet they are more than happy to broadcast GAA up here. It's true to say that the hierarchy at RTE are a very peculiar bunch.
