What did you think of the explanation that Interbox/Bute gave for his poor performance in Andrade I (the "physiological problem" was that, apparently, the way he was being massaged by his physio led to his reaction speed declining and to his muscles not responding properly to central nervous system commands)? I am not buying it at all. The reason for the poor performance had nothing to do with reaction speed/neurological problems but simply with the fact that Bute couldn't handle Andrade's style and started to panic. Bute was very sharp in the rematch, but he suffered pretty much the same fate in the rounds 2 and 3 that he had suffered in the first fight. But according to Bute/Interbox, the "physiological problem" had been resolved for the rematch fight. So they couldn't have been responsible after all for his performance in the first fight. Comparing Bute's video before Andrade II with Bute's video before Miranda tells me that Bute is not as fast, sharp or hard-punching. Obviously, he is not as motivated for this fight... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVV6KSdv-qk[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwSym5_TVfk[/ame] ...still, I am sure he's prepared well, but if Miranda lands big, he can take anyone out.
Larouche has never talked about the massage thing. He said that Bute got an allergic reaction to an antibiotic at the beginning of his training camp and his metabolytes went wrong. The differences between the 2 fights: Bute was sitting on his punches, he wanted to hurt Andrade, that's why he was not running around. He could have. Secondly, Bute was not clinching the second time, he was pushing Andrade instead. Not as tiring. Most of Andrade's hits were missing. I was attending both fights live and I got a feeling at the first one that something was not ok. Bute seemed tired before the fight. The Larouche explanation (which was reported by the Ring magazine) looked credible to me. I'm not sure of the massage one! As for Bute's sharpness, I don't think that comparing two short training videos is relevant. Every information that got to us from his partners was not pointing in the direction of Bute being not motivated. At the contrary, his partners all said they were doing real fights each day and that Bute was hitting to hurt all the time. Griffin also said that some mornings, he didn't want to go to the gym, knowing what it would be.
Haven't heard the one about the allergic reaction to the antibiotic. The explanation I referred to about the massage came straight from Bute. Apparently, it had been Larouche's wife who realised what had gone wrong: http://www.adevarul.ro/sport/antifotbal/Mister_KO-_exerseaza_croseul_la_Miami_0_233377011.html Bute's was emotionally tired before the first fight, but in the second fight, he wasn't, and, it's true, he didn't clinch this time, but Andrade still managed to land some flush punches on him, just like in the first fight. As to everything else, I am sure Bute is training as hard as ever, (except for the Andrade rematch), and he does look as good as ever, except for the way he looked before the Andrade rematch.
Something was clearly wrong in the first fight . Bute that never been tired like that not even in the 12th round he was starting to get tired in the 8th and exhausted in the 12 against Andrade. This content is protected
I found this link. It's in French but I think you are able to read it. http://lejournaldemontreal.canoe.ca...ts/boxe/archives/2009/12/20091210-132250.html
He was clinching when it was too late to push because Andrade was already in his face but every time he could, he pushed him. And you're right, Bute is not good at it. I saw a very little improvement though, in a way he looked a bit less bad. Still very bad.
Gotta say, I was a bit disappointed by Andrade so openly supporting Miranda against Bute. It's clearly personal for Andrade now, and it shouldn't be, because Bute stopped him in the second fight. I thought Andrade was better than that. Lost a bit of respect for him as a person. Still think he's at least a B to B+ level fighter, though.
I think he sees himself in Miranda. That's why he hopes for the upset. I don't see anything against Bute.
