This might be the worst case of bias by Jim Lampley (Toney vs Jirov)

The 11th round. Toney IMO (and I think anyone with a set of eyeballs) pretty clearly wins the round. He landed the more cleaner punchs by a mile and he also lands more punches. Jirov will being the beast he is just keep coming foward throwing punch by doesnt land many and the ones he did arent that hard or clean.

But according to Jim Lampley he "dominated" the round and that it was an act of will considering Toney had him hurt in the previous round. The whole fight HBO is on Jirov's nuts and I can deal with it but come the 11th I usually have to mute the TV until the end of the round.

Who do you think won the round?

I'd say Toney won that round. Lampley probably didn't mean he dominated that round, but threw more than Toney. Although I think Toney landed more in the round.

I remember that, I saw that not as a case of Lampley's bias but more his blindness.

His worst case of bias might be Chavez-Taylor 1. Or fights involving Barrera, as Lampley had a cringeworthy man-crush on Marco.

That was one of the best fights I have seen. Now if Cruiserweight was able to replicate about 20 more of those, the rest of us won't consider it a standby division of guys that couldn't cut it at Light Heavy or Heavyweight.

I got no problem giving that round to Jirov considering he wobbled Toney. That said it was a close round. Everytime I watch this fight I keep thinking it's one of the best fights I've ever seen. Both men fought their hearts out, and it's too bad their had to be a loser.

Jirov always put up a good performance, that's what makes him exciting to watch, and so does Toney.

Awesome fight but no doubt that Toney won it clearly (albeit closely).

Jirov was awesome back then, and IMO this wasn't even his best performance, he used to be a bit thinner and faster.

Toney still tapped that ass though.

I've never seen a bigger demonstration of sports broadcaster bias than the job Lampley did in the Taylor - Hopkins fights.

I mean he completely ended and took Mesi off the radar too, so he kind of passed it down in a sense...

I always felt like Jirov could have been more successful if wouldnt have went to Heavy. He should have just waited Toney out and dominated CW after he left. I think it would have worked to his financial advantage. He had built a nice little fan base and all...I dont know. I liked him, seemed like he got a bad deal in boxing.
