It would definitely be a dangerous fight for Holmes, but Larry tended to thrive on pressure. I'm sure Holmes would exhibit lightning fast footwork in the early rounds in order to stay away from Sanders's fast, powerful combinations. By the fifth, the pace would slow down as Sanders's tires.
Larry Holmes still shuts-out Corrie Sanders in a dream fight........ Sanders was NOT a true world class fighter / boxer...... Sanders was a lazy slob who was a southpaw with fast hands, and a hard left-cross..... But the guy had no stamina.... I will say Sanders was tough....... However, Larry Holmes gets his man drunk and then mugs him late.... Holmes by TKO round 10..... MR.BILL:good
Easy fight for Holmes. Holmes has a solid shin and got up from that Shavers punch. Sanders has some speed and a southpaw stance and power but he is not on Holme's level. Holmes boxes his ears off.
I'll take Sanders in the upset. The other southpaw brawler Holmes fought as an amatuer didn't have any problems landing. And when he did land, Larry was out. 2x. I think that straight as an arrow left hand of Sanders gets through that Holmes defense early. It wasn't telegraphed and it comes straight down the pipe. Corrie also had a nasty right hook that he used in combo. The size of Sanders is a factor as well & Holmes looks much much better against the face first short guys he had a reach and size advantage on.
Sanders TKO 1. Way too much speed and power. If Snipes can have Holmes nearly out, imagine what a super southpaw would do.
Holmes controls the fight from start to finish and the referee intervenes in round 8 with Sanders taking a pasting.
Sanders fought 3 world class opponents Vitaly and Rahman stopped him and he stopped Wlad! Never has someone become such a mythical contender from one win. Sanders never stopped anyone of consequence besides Wlad. Even Douglas beat McCall,Berbick and Page and Ibeabuchi beat Byrd and Tua. Briggs Sanders is the sort of match that should be discussed not Sanders Holmes, Sanders Lewis, Sanders Louis Corrie got the right guy at the right time that is it
