Berto may have "the right tools," but he has no right to old the WBC world title at ****ING WELTERWEIGHT, if he is really still in the developmental stages.
Berto needs a trainer that can teach how to box and not just rely on his explosive speed. Also, for someone who looks big and sturdy, he doesn't have the power behind his shots that I thought he did, which means he needs to work on his lower body strength and conditioning. He also has a tendency to not follow through with his shots meaning when he instantly makes contact he pulls back to raise his gloves rather than following through all the way. Another flaw: He leaves his left guard down too often. Without any technical, defense, and lateral movement training, Berto is not going to last long with any elite boxer Bottom line: He needs a new trainer that's more effective
Berto came to the ring with SOULJA BOY. That right there should not only disqualify him from being anywhere near the top Welter weight rankings but I also think he should be banned from boxing permanently. You got Margarito loading his gloves, you have Hopkins faking fouls, you have Abraham hitting people on the ground..... But none of these come close to the unbelievable disgrace berto pulled tonight by having the nerve to bring one of the worst rappers of all time into the sport of boxing.
haha...soulja boy is not considered a rapper in hiphop.... he's kind of nickolodian must be neighbors or both hatian... even berto didn't seem fired up by him.
He been off for 11months expect the Berto to have rust, that is too long of a lay off for a young fighter like himself and for him to just come in the ring and TKO Quintana like that was pretty good. I also think that tear in his left arm bothered him also with the result of him loosing 8 family members in that earthquake in Haiti, I think you guys look at the wrong things sometimes.
Berto has many, many technical flaws. His chin is still suspect, and he doesn't seem to improve from fight to fight. He does well with B level fighters, but put him in there with the Mosleys, Pacquiaos, Cottos, Margaritos, and Mayweathers of the division and he would get demolished.
I disagree, Berto's speed and quickness is all wrong for a 38 year old Mosley....... Mosley should consider himself lucky that Berto backed out of their fight due to the earthquake in Haiti. .......Berto is faster than both Mayweather and Pacquiao and would have beaten the aging Mosley with speed and quickness imo. At least now with the Mayweather fight, Mosley will get a much deserved payday in the twighlight of his career. Better to lose while getting paid, than to have lost to Berto.
My comment about Berto finding a new trainer was based on following him through his career. He has very bad habits and makes the same amateur mistakes that got him in trouble with Collazo. I'm saying that he has so much potential to be an elite fighter and a future star of boxing, but what good is potential without a proper trainer elevating the athletic talent? I'm very critical of his trainer due to his inability to adjust properly during 12 rounds and lack of technical skills present in his gameplan. Unfortunately, what you saw today was a combination of both ring rust and a lack of fundamental ring intelligence. I have much sympathy for him losing 8 family members. But not much sympathy for a tear in his left arm especially when you have fighters who pull through with cuts, blooding flowing into eyes leaving them partially blinded, fighters who fight with broken ribs, hands, cramps, etc. Having a tear in your lead left especially when you don't have much of a jab anyways only partially justifies his careless defense and straightforward offense that gave Carlos wide open opportunities to counter and make Berto miss.
Not enough speed to handle Mosley's jaw crushing hooks that put the strong chinned Margarito down. Berto has speed. But Mosley has speed and experience which served him well against Cotto and Margarito, albeit being in his late 30's. A 25-0 Berto would have gotten knocked out or the fight stopped to an experienced, quick and strong Mosley.
he's lucky that quintana is not a fighter with a big heart and never been too agresive and also he's lucky that the referee heard all his complaints and helped him and that took a little out of quintana... berto didnt impresed me at all, for a fighter he complaints like a girl all the time :hat
