The situations you have grouped together are completely different though. It doesn't work. Not that it's a remotely big deal at all, mind you, but since you have replied I'll respond once more before I hit the hay. Silva faced an overmatched opponent, and knew that he could toy with him, and toyed with him but then neglected to finish. That is completely different from Pac-Hatton. Pac was not facing an overmatched opponent, he was facing a very real, very live challenge. Pac exploded onto Hatton, trying to put that live dog done before he could do any damage, and he succeeded. There was no showboating from Pac, and no visible acknowledgement that he was relaxed because he was facing someone he could toy with if he wanted to. A boxing equivalent of Silva vs Maia is a fight like Roy Jones vs Vinny Paz or Clinton Woods (or any number of Roy's title defences), where the champion goes into the fight in the same mindset as Silva had - ie: "this is beneath me, I'll take the **** out of this dud, do whatever I like". But Jones finished Vinny in style, and the ref saved Clinton when Roy turned up the pressure. He behaved like a champion in those fights, those situations. Silva did not respond to that situation like a champion. He responded to it like a ****ing ****rag.

Ill just guess he makes Anderson's next fight for free. In a perfect world he makes a handicapped match with Belfort and Sonnen so they dont need to duke it out for top contender spot.

This is one of the most confusing sentences I've encountered in the English language.

It was basically the stand up version of lay n pray, really.

Just don't put him in with a BJJ guy without good takedowns unless you have to. Put him in with Belfort or Wanerlei and he'll look like a destroyer again.

There Boxers, people seem to forget that Maia is one of the best BJJ guys in the world...he would of subbed Silva in seconds.

Silva was scared to death to get anywhere near a guy like that, just as Maia seemed scared to death to commit to his own stand up.

Someone needs to tell Dana to chill out. it was highly embarrassing to watch, but I think Dana is in danger of compromising the sport. It's a dangerous road to go down to say one person's win is not as good as another.

I personally loath watching showboating, but it wasn't an equal match up. That said, it was a quite entertaining spectacle. Bad though the fight was, it has been a great talking point. And it was almost funny how excruciating it was to watch.

No it's not. Not always. Just because something isn't black and white doesn't mean you need to put blindfolds on. It was clearly, obviously, a shitty boring win and I am sure most fans think the same.

A prime example would be the 11,000 + in attendence.

I didn't have much of a problem with Silva clowning Maia - it's just that he clowned him for two rounds and then ran from him for the last two rounds. That makes no sense whatsoever. If you're going to clown a guy - you better jump on him and take him out. Silva didn't even try to throw as much as one punch whenever Maia tried to pull guard. It was just a bad performance from Anderson. He needs to be put in with someone that wants to punish him like Sonnen or moved up to light heavy to fight Rampage.

What Silva did was awful. But a lot of people are talking like he committed a crime. He did apologize to Maia after the fight. I see that being a far more forgivable situation than Nick Diaz flipping off the fans and not apologizing for it. I love Boxing but Silva's situation isn't any worse than Joshua Clottey standing in the ring like a punching bag the entire fight so he can earn an easy payday. Silva did more work and earned probably only a fraction of the amount of money Clottey received. To show up for work and basically sit idle and get paid $2 million is an insult to hardworking individuals.

Please dont compare Silva's actions to Nick Diaz. Silva is a better fighter but Nick makes it up to the fans he could call us cocksuckers for all I care. That guy has had about a dozen FOTY candiates. What does Anderson have ? Hes had 3 of the worst fights in the history of modern MMA in the last year and a half.

Fedor couldn't **** with Anderson Silva. Rogers broke Fedor's nose and was winning the fight until Fedor hit him with the hail mary. That same hail mary will NOT land against Silva.
