Well, everybody only focuses on his weaknesses now, whereas before everybody was only focused on his strengths. People make out like he's simple to beat when you know how.

I fancy him to beat Martinez and that will help his standing.

He was over rated after he beat JT, the first time, people thought he was p4p top 5 and he was not! when it came to the hopkins fight everyone was saying how when he knocks hopkins out in 1 round how it would prove that calzaghe was **** and ducking pavlik.

he is underrated on here but he can turn that around. he's young and has options should he win this fight. get sturm in and take his strap, get williams in the ring (longshot), move up and start campaigning up at smw. he has an opportunity to restore what career momentum he had when he beat taylor.

and as it turns out with regard to the hopkins fight and kelly being the first to ko him...a lot of that was promoting hype that a lot of people bought into....including many on here. **** i can't lie, i thought kelly would win the hopkins fight but said many times that i was very uneasy about it. in fact it is documented that, when the camp was analyzing opponents for hopkins, bernard said about kelly that if he couldnt beat kelly he should retire.

and calzaghe did call him for six months only to go in another direction. this too is well documented.

good post and i like where you are directing his career. martinez-sturm-williams-smw is the best path to take. win or lose, he'll get respect.

the hopkins fight was a masterpiece by hopkins and wake up call for kelly. let's hope he answers it

If anything, both he and Cottoe have been two of the most OVERRATED fighters in recent history.

He is "a bit" underrated, Pavlik should be the favourite in his fight with Sergio. I was a big Pavlik fan until he (or Arum) ducked Abraham. Then just I was ready to give Pavlik a pass, his stupid "let them throw their careers away for peanuts" comment about the Super Six 6 made it really hard to support the guy, especially since he has not done much since losing to Hopkins. The Williams fiasco didn't help either. I will say this, Pavlik has the style to win me and a lot of others back as fans but he needs to start fighting better competition. There's a ton of talent at SMW, maybe he should move up and fight Bute.

    :wtf

Kelly Pavlik on this and any other forum if "off the charts" with claiming he's one of top elite-level fighters in the sport. He is vastly overrated...HANDS DOWN!!!

He is. Hopefully he can regain some of his lost stock with a win over Martinez. A scintillating display of power, resulting in Martinez getting KO'd early on, or trying to (and successfully) box Martinez would also help (due to him being seen as unable to do anything outside of his standard combinations).

This is a hard question as the guy hardly fights anymore!

I used to think he was a talentless bum that had beaten a few nobody's up in his back garden back in the day's when he used to fight.

He did look good against a prime Hopkins though.

I'd like to see him fight Bute at 168 so i can buy advertising on the soles of his shoes!

Pavlik chased after Winky Wright for years, fought Miranda and Taylor when both were in peak form, chased hard after a fight with Calzaghe, and fought Bernard Hopkins. But he ducked Arthur Abraham:patsch

How much sense does that really make?

I'm very interested to see how he fights after injuries, a long lay off and (alleged) issues with the demon drink. I'm definitely going to get some cash being Martinez, as I'm not sure whether we are going to see the rampaging "prime" Pavlik we saw pre Hopkins beatdown.
