He looks like a decent fighter but what's he done yet? He beat a shot Witter, who had an injury and then an old Urango...very weak resume so far. He wasn't even winning every round against Urango, like Berto.

To me, Alexander is a prime example of how fickle some fans are. He looks decent but that's really about it. He doesn't have great boxing skills, his power is hugely overrated and he has yet to be tested. The idea that he is P4P or even the best at 140 is wrong. He isn't as good as Bradley, Khan, Maidana and there's a couple of others I'd pick over him, including Ortiz.

Hatton hugged Urango to a decision. Berto hugged Urango to a decision.

Alexander stood in the pocket and uppercutted him out of his sneakers. Oh and Witter the quitter quit because he was getting his ass whooped.

140 is Devon Alexanders division from here on out. Heard it here first folks.

He is vastly overrated mainly because of TKO'ing Urango (which the fight could be said to be stopped prematurely) and unifying 2 pieces of tin. He is nothing special just a defensively disciplined southpaw.

    Bingo.

Hatton struggled at times and even had to come up with excuses for his poor performance by saying he had a cold.

And even as a bit of a Berto fan, he clinched massively and did not win every round like you say, he took probably 9-10 rounds, but not everyone and it was a very negative performance as a whole. Plus that was a bigger, slower Urango at 147.

HE might be a tad overrated, i think hes good but some people are jumping the gun. Bradley is the man right now at JW.

Id like to see him against another good fighter before u start saying he is the best JW. Him and Kahn arent as proven as Bradley yet.

Hatton and Berto still dominated Urango though, which Alexander didn't do. He got a great stoppage after a Hail Mary shot. Fair enough I suppose, I don't want to discredit the win. It's just everything about Alexander is so "...meh". He's probably peaked already.

    Ortiz beats him convincingly.

:rofl Hail Mary shot he says.

He was landing that uppercut all fight. Urango won 2 rounds at best. Devon could have clinched and pot shotted Urango to a decision, instead he fought in the pocket and got him out of there with an explosive uppercut.

You cant win anymore impressive then that.

Like I said, 140 is Alexanders to lose.

He's 23 years old. :nut And has soundly beaten Witter and Urango.

What more do you expect at this stage in his career?

I wouldn't say he's overrated by people here.

It's just that for a such a young guy (23 I think?) and the small number of fights (20), he's not only shown great ability, but he's used it impressively against decent opposition. He's been put in with guys (whether they were past prime or not) who would be serious tests for anybody, and Devon won impressively against all of them.

That itself is enough to get people a little excited about the things he could do in this division. I'm of the camp that thinks he will become the ruler of the 140 division not too long from now. In the space of the next 2/3 years, I think he'll get past the likes of Ortiz and Maidana, have a great win against the naturally gifted Khan, before snatching the crown from Bradley.

Dude's got a great future ahead of him
