JMM came from the LA forum and had the mexicans behind him. Him and his brother fought there and had a following. Bungu and Soto were nobodies also but atleast JMM had a higher ranking.

gatti was gatti . . . no one ever said he was the best. when he fought PBF his fans were hoping his warrior spirit would be enough to pull off the upset . . . they never said that PBF was ducking him for years and he would destroy him when they meet.

hatton would have walked through bradley in his prime. we saw what the best two fighters of this generation did to (past prime) hatton. bradley isn't anywhere close to as good as them.

Because he doesn't respect himself - anyone who lets themselves go between fights to the extent he does neither respects themselves, nor deserves respect from others.

    I like Hatton.

That said, I always thought of him like this. Imagine your hometown hero/athlete beating an older well known vet (that's also a champ) to get the headlines. For the die-hard fan this guy is a hero (to them) and they can't wait to see his next fight. To the boxing purist, they fear that their hometown hero will get mutilated in his next fight. Granted, after Hatton beat Tzysu he didn't "crap out" in his next fight.

I'd say it is the recognition of the fact that Hatton could never beat Pac or PBF that creates the dismissal of the guy. I was really surprised to see how many people were honestly rooting for the guy...ya know...like Hatton had a chance. My one friend from Widnes (who is also a boxing purist) was rooting for Hatton for both fights!!! Outside of Hatton, he called a lot of fights dead on. When it came to Hatton (and not that I think of it, Calzaghe) he went ape **** rooting for the guy. Like he turned off his "common sense" switch. I never understood it.
