No disrespect to female boxers, but any male fighter worthy of the name would beat even the best female fighters. It's the same for any other sport. The physical advantages that the male brings to the table are just too big. It even doesn't necessarily have anything to do with talent. If, say, Martina Hingis who at her best was a tennis player of genius would have played Ivanicovic who basically only had a big serve she would have been lucky to win a game. Not because she's inferior as a shotmaker or from a technical perspective but because Ivanisovic is just too strong and the weight of his shots would easily get the job done.

That's a bit of a stretch, but you might be right. The male straweight would probably frustrate Riker with his speed. He'd be in and out, popping the **** out of her. Now the question, what couldn't she do that a male counterpart of her's could?

Well, I wouldn't have put it that bluntly, but your observation is spot-on. In a match against a experienced female and a entry-level male of the same size, I think punch resistance would be the main factor. The female might land some shots, but they wouldn't be enough to stop the male, while a solid punch by him would knock her out cold.

Ivanisovic was very tall, and much taller than Hingis. Take a male player at the same height of Hingis, and that's a better comparison. Now take a player that is ranked as low as 1,000 (which is pretty entry level tennis player in my book) in the late 1990s, Hingis would beat him up. In fact, I think Hingis would have beaten any male ranked 200 or lower.

Tennis is a very bad example.

Some of the things that aren't inherent advantages in the male structure would not come into play as much as coordination, refelxes, and endurance, all of which are of equal footing.

Boxing, however, takes further into account the muscle development, facial structure, brut strength, and other aspects of a male physique that play to his advantage.

It obviously depends on the guy, but Lucia Rijker would get knocked the **** out by any decent male pro with an average chin and average power (both average in terms of pro boxers).

That unscientific bull**** experiment on that show proved nothing to me. It was on tv and it was for entertainment and ooh and ahs, not reality, not facts. Therefore I remain unconvinced that she could hit as hard or harder than an average male pro boxer.

Even if she could hit as hard, a man could take her best punch, smile, fire back and she wouldn't be able to handle it. If all other factors were the same, it would come down to punch resistance. She would be able to dish it out just fine, but she couldn't take it as well and would get knocked clean out.

I think that so-called experiment has a lot more to do with political correctness and trying not to sound sexist than with reality. No way in hell can the strongest woman punch as hard as the strongest man. That's just not true and there are physiological, endocrine, and biochemical reasons for it.

I also think an average woman wouldn't be able to take a punch as well as an average man.

Speed and reflexwise I think women can equal men though.

That being said, I would pick Rijker or Wolfe over many smaller, really mediocre males but they would have to be real cans, like 1-10 or 2-20 or 5-15 type guys.

I remember Serena playing some dude that was ranked at around 300th in the world and she lost 6-1 6-0.

I didn't vote because it's all circumstansial. I think a Anne Wolfe or Lalia Ali would beat some dudes.

At kickboxing she lost from the male world champion in her weightclass by KO2 (her only loss in her career), She could compete with him and even had him in a corner but then got KO'd cold.
She would certainly beat a entry level male in her own weightclass I think.

You probably didn't see this tread...

if you look at 'entry level males' sometimes, then I don't think they have much of a chance. There are guys who lost all their bouts and most of them on KO, do you really think they could take these punches if for example Rijker only lost to the male world kickboxing champion because she couldn't take his punch.

A novice 165 pound man might get knocked the **** out by an Ann Wolfe.

    Dont underestimate the females.

And dont overestimate a man who's just fit and wearing some boxing kit.
Some boxers just cant fight, just cant take a punch.

It's like taking a man off a football (soccer) field, from a semi-pro mediocre team, and getting him on the running track for a few weeks, then putting him in the women's Olympic 100 metres final.
Can he run under 11 seconds ?
    I wouldn't bank on it.
