This would explain his thinking and psychological toughness. You don't generally become tough unless you came from a tough backround.

Makes you wonder about Dirrell, he does not seem to be from a tough backround but then again his brother Anthony does seem tough. This sort of toughness is why Froch is hard to beat, he does not give an inch in a fight and fights 100% until the very end of the fight. Abraham and Holyfield are also very tough, Holyfield is tough to the point of being psychotic tough though.

Terrible example. If Kirkland were mentally tough he wouldn't be in prison right now. The environment is supposed to make you stronger, not take you down. Having said that I'd say Froch and Abraham are the toughest in the super 6, but guys like Hopkins or Holyfield would make them look like sissys. Give Froch credit for becoming a champion and if you are going to hate him then hate him for what he does inside the ring.

Huh? He got caught carrying a weapon. Not coming out for or against that, but how does that make you "mentally weak"? That is an "administrative issue" not a "mental toughness" one.

Froch and Abraham started mentally breaking down when they faced a frustrating guy like Dirrel. Dirrell showed some signs of breaking down in the Froch fight too. This was just funny, but he gets his due in the ring.

Prime Hopkins or Holyfield would eat them all for breakfast.
