read again, he grant, I said the sages of boxing think highly of him. I did not say me but thank you for the compliment:good
Marciano had the power to knock out any of Hvyweight champs up 220 lbs at any time in the fight. Ali could TKO via cuts, or outpoint Marciano. Edge: Ali
You have to ask youself what would have happened if Walcott had slipped that right that he got caught with in their first fight.
In the fight in 1971 Ali resorted to clowning and lying on the ropes because he had no answer for Joe Frazier..he couldn't do anything with him or to him...if Ali had trouble with Joe..you don't think he would have had trouble with Marciano??...Rocky was a freak of nature...
well check the Superfight [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAwq0OWgQgY&feature=player_embedded"]here[/ame]
Well they said he was over-hyped so it could be a self-fulfilling prophecy? I'd like to see it myself rather than automatically buy newspaper accounts which can be sensationalist. At the same time they could be mistaken, they only watched it live once.
Ali in his prime could stick and move for an entire fight. His legs were tireless and would keep him at a safe distance from marciano's powerand when marciano did hit him (which he wouldn't do consistantly), Ali could take a great punch. He would simply clinch rocky whenever he got close and his slashing jab would cut him up. Ali's size, speed and skill along with his combination punching would result in marciano being stopped on cuts or an accumulation of punishment.
He did slip it, in all the previous rounds. Perhaps he was doing exceptionally well variance-wise, and would be knocked out sooner on average if you ran the match a hundred times.
Walcott had already been nailed with significant big rights in that fight. He'd soaked up some big ones, like this one : This content is protected It's more remarkable that he managed to absorb such blows and keep upright, rather than him failing to slip the final punch of the fight. Walcott had an excellent chin.
Both Frazier and Ali woulda ****ed Marciano's world up, his fights with Walcott show he was somewhat slow and is extremely hittable
I say Ali would punish Marciano with his speed, height and technique. dont get me wrong Marciano was effective in his era ended his career 49-0 it would be a sweet science fight. the fight that would be interesting to me would be Marciano vs Dempsey.
