based on what, the clottey fight was his only fight at ww, you dumbass. :rofl how stupid are you to bring up corrales in this dicussion. and that same quintana that you are talking about is the only man to have defeated paul williams. but since you're an ass, you probably dont even know that.
He's also the same Quintana that got KTFO in one round in the rematch against a Williams who was paying attention, the same Quintana that got ground into hamburger by Cotto like he was a child, the same Cotto who Clottey basically fought to a draw. The same Quintana that popped Berto upside the head with a light little left hook in the first round and buckled Berto's knees so bad he had to cry to the referee for help lol... I don't know that Berto even makes it out of the first round without help from the ref. Seriously; if you put Berto in the same class as Clottey as a fighter, you're either not paying attention or you have no idea how to judge talent. Mark my words, and I'll make any bet you want: If they get in the ring together, Clottey will beat that boy around the ring and put him out without breaking a sweat.
Clottey is too picky on his punches, while Berto punches in bunches. The more aggressive fighter wins this fight. Berto
for all the complaining you doing about berto, he still won the damn fight, so exactly whats your point? and as far as class, are they both not top 5 ww? you must think clottey is a top 10 p4p fighter or something. maybe you need to learn how to judge talent. they are both b-level fighters at this point. now if you could learn how to read, had already said, that its a toss-up fight, meaning clottey could definately win, but there's no guarantee, especailly for a fighter who loves to stay in defensive shell. and berto has got good speed and good all around offensive skills. cotto had chin problems too, but clottey didnt exactly steamroll him, now did he.
Cotto had chin problems at 140, NOT at 147. Also, B fighters don't go 12 rds with Margarito and Cotto in pick-em fights. What is so hard to understand about that? Do you SEE that sentence? Does Berto make it thru a 12 rd war with a loaded glove Margarito? With Cotto? Is he even competitive in those fights?
Cotto definately had chin problems at 147. He was hurt more at 147 than he was at 140. None of this is relevant. It's all about styles. I don't think I need to recall the Margo/Cotto/Mosley triangle for you. Clottey does not match up well with Berto. Berto is too fast, too strong, and too mobile.
atsch wow, you're simple. cotto's durability never changed, 140 or 147, genius. and how the f--k do you know berto couldnt make it to 12 rds with margo. because quintana rocked him? so what did you say when corley rocked cotto? and the fact that you bring up margo, who is completely irrelevant to this topic, shows that you dont have a point.
This is a true pick-'em fight for me, but if I had to go out on a limb I'd probably pick Clottey via split decision at this point. I disagree with a poster that said he competed very well with Margarito...that was a pretty clear loss, it was just a matter that Clottey was winning before he allegedly hurt his hands. How much does that matter? It's tough to say as Margarito is a late starter and he ended up setting compubox records in that fight if I recall. It's not like Clottey is elite...but neither is Berto at this point and some of my reasons for picking Clottey narrowly may simply be about not trusting what we don't know about Berto moreso than knowing about Clottey's deficiencies.
ok. Who rocked Cotto at 147? He took 11 rds of a beating from Margo without being put on ***** street. He saw the 12th v. Pacquiao. He was never off his feet or seriously hurt v. Mosely. Quintana was a sparring session for him and he was never even a tiny bit troubled in that fight. Exactly how does he have 'chin problems' as a full welterweight?
I think you are confusing Cotto's chin versus Cotto's defense. He ate a lot of punches at 147 but his chin was not a problem.
Cotto was hurt in his fight with Zab Judah. He was also hurt in his fight with Margarito long before the KO (round 7 if I remember correctly), and in round 9 of the fight with Mosley.
not to the point of being wobbled or knocked down. Berto was knocked down and without the ref intervening, maybe TKO'd in the 1st rd by QUINTANA. The whole fight, he was one solid punch away from being on his back. He's fragile. He's a hype job. He's going to make Lacy look like a world beater.
