Ortiz, he is better Seriously though, I dont see how Mayweather can win this. ortiz wasn seriously troubled by movers or speed. I think he has the tools to push Mayweather on the ropes and get the best of the inside fighter. He also has the tools to hold his own on the outside with sharp countering.
I have a tough time deciding not only how great Floyd is, but whether he even is great. His resume is notable more for who isn't there than for who is. And his defecating on a contract that said both he and Marquez are to come in at or under 144 has removed any regard I ever had for the man. The man came in at 146 and paid $600 k to Marquez and therefore increased my suspicion of him as a fighter. Floyd has talent and skill. No doubt about that. But is he great? This jury says that the answer to that question is inconclusive. Shane is going to do us all a favor. Win or lose, he will either unveil Floyd, or he will expose him.
Mayweather has massive skill/defense/speed advantages over Ortiz. Oriz is the stronger man though has great timing, hurtful powerful puncher but didnt fight at a red hot pace that could pressure mistakes and would have loads of trouble landing. Allot depends on how well Ortiz can time Mayweather. In terms of similar stylistic matches Ortiz face Loche and Laguana. I dont think Laguana was similar at all even if he was quick and athletic, thats where the stylistic similarities end, Mayweather is plain better though. Loche obviously has the similarity in being great defensively and using the shoulder roll. I'm not sure who deserved the verdict in the draw either but I wonder if Loche was pre-prime. Mayweather has faced Castillo who would have the most similar style, Castillo isnt quite as technically good as Ortiz but he fights at a more frantic pace. Hes fought many pressure types who've looked to break him down in Corrales, Hatton, Chavez. Mosley in some ways has similarities with his heavy body puncher, ferocious power, his ability at mid range, combined with great chin. Mayweather UD not sure how close as allot would depend if Ortiz can force a pace and get into range and actually land. His somewhat slower feet and lack of pace may make it a wide, if he can get a rythm it'd likely be close like the second Castillo fight
I got Ortiz...Money could upset him if Carlos was a little unfocused and unmotivated but in a series Ive got no issue backing Ortiz to prove himself the superior fighter. Would be close all the way in every fight they had...but I just dont see Floyd winning more then he loses. Ortiz would be unperturbed by any speed disadvantage he had in this..He had just to many tools in his kit. He showed in his career he had an answer for a range of styles and guys with different physical advantages.
Kev, instead of seeking out other people's opinions that you can latch on to actually provide your own one.
