I think that Berto's handspeed could be an issue for Pac... however I expect Pac to win by brutal stoppage after 6 rounds. Essentially Berto and Shawn Porter are similar so this would be nothing new for Pac. I think if Pac wants to show he is for real he should fight Margarito cuz berto is a joke
Not a very convincing argument at all. Unify the belts and face someone who will throw punches? Might as well fight Jan Zaveck then. Seriously though, Berto hasn't beaten anyone that would give him sufficient name recognition to bring anything to the table economically.
I think if Pac don't want to fight Mayweather again, then this fight makes the best sense for him. Berto does have the 2nd most respected belt after all, the WBC, whereas Pac only has the WBO that isn't even recognized in Japan. So to Japanese ppl Pac isn't even a welterweight champ, Berto and Mosley are. And Margarito offers nothing and doesn't deserve a shot at Pac, the only person that benefits from a Pac-Marg fight is that crook Arum. Seriously, Pac needs to fight someone outside of Top Rank for once!
The fight makes sense for Pac to get his hands on the WBC and for Berto to get his biggest payday and first loss on his record. Not the worst match up, but I'm not too excited about it.
Berto is the real deal. If Pac wants to prove himself then he needs to beat the best and the best at welterweight are Berto, Mayweather, and Mosley. Pac needs to stop fooling around with chumps like Clottey and start proving himself against the world champs. Don't fight washed up cheaters like Margarito either, that won't prove anything!
