The press conference today was pretty boring with both camps throwing compliments at each other. The only good part was when Larouche said he hope Edison won't use his head as much (headbutts) which was followed by Goosen who said he hope Bute won't get any help (from the referee). :cheers
I think every single fan gets a little lost a couple of days before an important fight. I am, and you are too Pantera. You are more and more confident to see a Miranda victory. I don't think there are facts backing your opinion. I hope we'll be able to exchange after the fight. If Bute loses, I may need a couple of days to recover (maybe a couple of weeks, who knows?) but I'll come back. I just don't see how he could lose. See you Friday at the weigh in.
Don't know the original source of this. It was quoted from the front page: "Miranda has an athleticism that I never knew existed." Goossen said about his new protégé. "He always looked dangerous to me, but I never looked at him as a world class athlete. So, when I started working with him in the gym, I found an athlete in hiding. He has exceeded all expectations for whatever I set before him and is possibly the quickest study I've ever had. I believe Miranda now has what it takes to become a champion and dominate his division."Goossen added "When people come in the gym and see Edison they have a hard time computing that this is the same Edison Miranda they have seen so many times on TV. He is a completely changed fighter, and everyone is eager to see him display his new skills."
The only sad thing about this fight is the fact that les Canadiens will play their playoff game just before the start of the fight. People in Montreal might be more focus on hockey than boxing...
Goossen actually said he will keep Miranda from headbutting as long as Bute does not clinch. I have to say this was a horrible press conference for Edison. He went off on some boring tangent about 2012 and how their needs to be love in this world. Oh well. Maybe it is a sign and he will also be a changed man in the ring.
I am cautiously optimistic. I have been heart broken by Miranda too many times. I will be upset if he loses, but not surprised. You will be in shock and be miserable for weeks if Bute loses. You will be back though. It took me a few weeks to get back into boxing after Pavlik beat Edison silly. At least you always know that Bute will get a rematch. I am looking forward to an action packed war.
I was commenting on the video I posted up. Goosen didn't want edison showing too much ... and the cameraman even said "that's it"? after Miranda was letting the photgraphers take still shots of him with the speedbag.. It seems they are keeping the sparring and real training under lock and key..
He will be back. He respects Bute. He does not respect many and will speak his mind when he the time is right.
You should have seen what he looked like an hour later at the gym when he went through his real training. I am not gonna say Miranda will win this fight, but everyone is going to be impressed with what he brings to the table. I dont see him reverting back to the Miranda of the past.
Even with the defensive improvements I saw in the Ward fight I have always believed Miranda will not be KO'd by Bute. Time will tell.
