I'm doing a project on boxing in Scotland for the radio course I am doing and one of the pieces will be about the greatest fighters of the past. I was just wondering who you guys saw as the best Scottish fighters from the past? I obviously know the obvious ones like Buchanan etc. but if anyone could fill me in on some others you feel are noteworthy as I'm not entirely familiar with older boxers from Scotland it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks boys :good

    Ken Buchanan
    Walter McGowan
    Benny Lynch
    Jackie Paterson

Greg Houston pointed out Chic Calderwood who is brilliant. Also in that vein is Jock McAvoy.

If you want to know anything about them you can ask me.

three words for you, Amazing Alex Arthur!

The only scottish fighter to win a world title purely and simply by scaring an opponent into a higher weight category.
Infact the thought of fighting Arthur affected Joan Guzman so much, he's been depressed ever since, he's managed to pick up an unhealthy over eating disorder. That'd make a great report!
