Anyway, Martinez has said he would return to 147lbs, if the big fights can happen for him there. He's never had good training though, which means staying at 154lbs is easier, given his career choice. Much like Herbie Hide at heavyweight/cruiser, for instance. When guys aren't making money, they can't afford to cut weight for months before a fight.

 

he hasnt fought at that weight in 8 years. just b/c someone starts their career there doesnt mean 8 years later they are still "naturally" at that weight. if sergio martinez was a natural ww he'd be at ww right now trying to get paid just like anyone else, not moving up to get sparked. he is the jmw champ, not a ww.
