There is indeed a sharp contrast between the style of Martinez vs the styles of Pac's recent opponents but it doesn't change the fact that even with all of his slickness, Sergio is still very much hittable. PTP was able to put a lot of leather on him and if Pac was able to land with a similar success rate, I can envision a possible stoppage.

Thats not a good comparison given that Paul is tall and Manny is short with a shorter reach...He's going to have to work his way on the inside which will be very hard IMO...To top it off, Manny is hittable as well.

You also have to take into consideration that Manny has to go to new territories...He's never fought at 154 before and I think with the extra weight Manny may loose some of speed.

I'm not trying to be a dick to you, I just wanted to know how you came up with that prediction...I wouldnt rule out a Decision but IMHO, I seriously dont see Manny KO Sergio at 154.

Though fight for Manny and I say this purely because of size. Manny is a better fighter than Martinez for sure. But 154 is too much for Manny.

True, Arreola would be another specialist to consult.

Martinez would blast Paquiao out of the ring, literally, and Manny would have to be carried away on a stretcher.

Pac, like PTP, is gonna throw a lot punches from a lot of different angles. Sergio has been overwhelmed and stopped once before from a a high punch output. I don't necessarily think Pac would enter the ring guns blazing but would at some point crack up his punch volume. You stated before that Martinez could match Pac's speed, well I think Pac could match Martinez' cleverness and combined with the speed and power, I can see Martinez getting shell shocked.

One thing that's interesting is I don't know how good Martinez is at clinching when he gets in trouble. I think Pacquiao is capable of KO'ing Martinez, especially if Martinez gets in trouble and can't smother/hold/clinch his way back into recovering which is something Cotto struggled with against both Margarito and Pacquiao.

One things for sure, if this fight somehow happened it would be exciting as hell.

So you guys think a 145 lb. Cotto is a better match than a 154 lb. Sergio???

He got a mercy stoppage in the 12th against a guy who is slower, shorter, dumber, and carries a lot less one-punch pop than Martinez. Martinez got game. And some of you think he KO's Martinez!?!?!? And Pac is way too easy to hit with right hands (proved by Clottey) to **** with either Sergio or Paul.

ffs, this guy Segio is getting ready to fight

for the MW belt tomorrow, and already people are signing his life away to Pac.... When will the madness stop?

Not sure if this is a response to my post but I have a feeling it is. In no way am I "signing Martinez life away". It's a fantasy matchup as it would probably never happen. I said I think Pac is capable of it in response to people laughing at the thought. And surprise...I also think Martinez is capable of KO'ing Pac. There is NO DOUBT that Martinez is something serious, which is why this matchup would be ridiculously exciting and fun to watch.

this is like about 2 years ago when pac is being fitted against oscar, hatton and cotto and everyone is saying that pac would just get ktfo. well martinez is not much bigger than clottey and oscar, not much skilled than cotto. this would be a good scrap. common sense tells us to pick martinez but if i was forced to bet, i got pac by decision. pac always surprises us when we write him off.

There is a reason why fighters like Paul Williams and Martinez are avoided.

They have many strengths, which coupled with their size would make a bad match up for ANY welter weight out there. I'd pick SM and PW to beat both Pacquiao and Mayweather.

    So where does it stop?

Is he capable of beating Andre Dirrell? Or maybe Andre Ward? Chad Dawson anyone? David Haye would probably be utterly shocked at his speed and power!

Let him fight a 140-147lb. un-weightdrained boxer with movement and pop in his punches before you guys make him out to be capable of handling a 154-lb. guy who is superior to everyone he has faced thus far in the higher weights.
