Does he have the power to make Shane respect him, let alone hurt him? Floyd hasn't really shown any power at welterweight. He couldn't hurt Baldomir, and he couldn't KO Marquez. It took him 10 rounds to put down Hatton. This isn't a hate thread, I'm just wondering what happens if he can't make Shane respect him at all?

Can he outbox and potshot Shane for 12 rounds without getting hurt? Shane seems very confident and determined coming into this. I thought from the start that he was gonna get outboxed and beat easy, but I'm not so sure anymore.

It's sad some people think boxing is all about power.Floyd's not feather fisted and every boxer knows that.Anyone who just moves in thinking Floyd doesnt have power gets knocked out.Ricky Hatton used to say the same stupid thing like 'he doesnt have the power to stop me,he is very small,he has brittle hands.'The next thing his girlfriend was throwing up in the audience and Ricky didnt know where he was. When he woke up from his near death experience he was saying 'I slipped'

The answer to your question is Floyd doesnt need to earn Shane's respect,he has it already.

His timing, not so much his power, makes anyone respect him.

Boxing isn't all about power, but when you can't hurt a guy or make him respect you, that can be a problem - especially when he's bigger and stronger than you.

It's a perfectly valid question. Floyd hasn't fought any big tough welters like Shane. He's been fighting junior welterweights and featherweights, and he could barely hurt them. There are definitely unanswered questions about Floyd's power at welterweight.

Yes he's gotten to 40-0, 25 KO's without making anyone respect his power.

Do you ever say anything of intelligence on this forum?

ACtually he's fought 3 welterweights, 1 superwelterweight and a junior welterweight who won a title at welterweight.

At lightweight Floyd had pretty good pop, and that made him that much more effective. I don't think he carried his power up, but we'll find out on May 1st.

To me this is kind of the wildcard in the fight. If Floyd can't bother Shane at all, then I could see Shane walking through and knocking him out. Otherwise, it'll be just another one-sided UD.

He got that record at the lower weights.

Show me one fight at welter where he's shown the kind of power to bother a granite-chin guy like Mosley?

Like I said this isn't a hate thread, I'm asking a legit question. Don't have to get butthurt.

Ban bet then. If you sure Mosley walks through Mayweathers shots, and that Mayweather has no pop....

Then you wouldnt mind taking a wager on the fight.

I don't think Shane has to worry about getting ktfo by Floyd. But if he bumrushes Floyd like Hatton did then that's a possibility. The thing with Floyd is his speed and perfectly placed counterpunching, he times you well enough coming in he can produce a knockdown in even a strong chinned puncher coming in on him. Though a knockdown isn't a big deal it is if its a two point round in a competitive fight or worse still, two or three knockdowns.

I'm not sure. That's why I was asking the question LOL. I'm just discussing the possible outcomes of the fight. We don't have to be fanboys all the time.

    But that's a good example.

Its a dumb question. Floyd has plenty of pop most of which comes from timing. If he didnt, the fact that he spent 90% of his career at super featherweight, the host of bigger fighters he has fought, 99% of which have been bigger then him, one would have walked through his punches.

Crazy how DLH resumes his attack as if the knee buckling wasn't registered by his brain at all.

Desire. Floyd should have followed up his attack.

Again that's at the lower weights, why can't you get that through your head.

He showed no power against Judah, Hatton (junior welter), or Marquez (natural feather). He knocked out hatton on accumulation after 10 rounds, and he couldn't finish Marquez. He never really hurt Judah, just beat him up on accumulation for 12 rounds. He couldn't hurt Baldomir at all.

He did stun Hoya with that one well timed counter shot, but otherwise he never seemed to bother him much.

It was probably better that he didn't. By the way he resumes attack it seems he wasn't really hurt. If he was he would have backed away or held to floyd as he did in Mosley 2 when he got rocked in that end of the fight.
