quit being a pedantic ******. the whole point of classic is being able to question any fighter without getting pages of bull**** like "LMAO U DONT THINK PACQUIAO IS THE BEST FIGHTER EVER **** YOU TROLL ****** MAYWEATHER NUTHUGGER" spit back at you. Jackson hit hard, but to think that he'd bomb out the much larger Jermain Taylor in the first few rounds is absurd.
His chin and durability are rated accordingly. Power is overrated?!?!?!?!? Are you a ****in ******atsch
Jermain Taylor would probably approach this fight very cautiously and stay out of Jackson's way, throwing very little and forcing him to take the lead most of the time. I'd still favour Jackson to get through at some point and hurt Taylor badly, especially given the latter's susceptibility to the right hand. Still, Jackson liked guys to come towards him and provide him with opportunities which Taylor doesn't unless you press him yourself, so the fight going 12 is not out of the question in which Taylor has a very solid chance of getting the nod. I'd pick Jackson but only 70/30 or so.
"Over-rated" doesn't mean "bad". I don't think anyone's denying the fact that Jackson had show-stopping, extraordinary power. It doesn't stop him being possibly over-rated, especially at 160 where he was never comfortable. Against the bigger, more durable Middleweights (not that Taylor is one) of the modern era, Jackson might not see the same success, and is much more likely to have his own glass jaw exposed.
I know this won't be popular, but I think Jermain would knock Jackson out before he got into trouble. Taylor was normally a very fast starter and had pretty good pop in his punches. At 160, he was very fast, and he was much longer that Julien with better technique. Jackson always has a punchers chance. but I don't think he would get started before he was taken out. Have a baby by me.
I agree with this to a degree, except for having your baby, and I'd probably favour a Jackson KO but both are fast starters and Taylors speed/power against Jacksons chin means he may score a KO himself
What happened to Herol Graham will also happen to Jermain Taylor. Kiss your Bad Intentions goodnight.
taylors skills are overated. jabbing to the left he looks marvelous...then stands still and doubles over like he is having an asthma attack. even his footwork is pretty poor. throws his jab like he was loading a bow and arrow. because he was styless boxers usually didnt look good against him. winky, hopkins and spinks all had there moments but he was too awkward to get into a chess match. jackson not technically perfect he did know how to box and counter....strangely i would consider him more fluid than taylor. taylor gets stopped and tko'd. mid rounds
Oh **** off. Taylor might have some success early but he's too flat footed and has a poor defense. Only chance he has is to take it to JJ early and get a quick stoppage. Which is unlikely but not impossible.
As much as I like Taylor, and I really do, I think you would have to be a complete moron to think Julian Jackson wouldn't KO Jermain.
Jackson gets dropped in the early-mid rounds and is outboxed for most of the fight. He drops Taylor in the mid-late rounds. Jackson stops Taylor in the 12th round while behind on the cards! Sound familiar?
