My observations of the Dirrell/ Abraham controversy

Dirrell was faking, but AA did hit him while he was down so he deserved to lose...

 

I still don't think Dirrell was faking. He took a straight hard punch to the face by a ****ing tank while he was down and very vulnerable.

 

Noone will ever convince me that dirrell faked it

he went down to the floor near instantly. he was a mess post fight and thought he got kayo'd.

i also think aa did it on purpose, he pauses he throws his punch.

It's not as simple as having full motor function compared to losing motor function. He raise his hand, so what! Doesn't mean he was faking, the way the body works, and reacts to blows etc is more complex than that.

I don't think there is a way to "behave" when you lose motor function as you say. People react (notice i said "react") differently. you woul be knocked out 10 times and you would not react the same way each time. Anyway, if you watch the video again, I want you to pay attention to his right hand and see how it just dropped on his right thigh. If you really believe he was faking it will be easier to see the things that would make you want to believe he faked it. Did you actually listen to him after the fight?

 

Either he was faking or he wasn't. If he was seriously buzzed, he's not going to have the mental capacity to think "oh, I could win if I fake being hurt even worse". At that point, you turn to instinct, and I doubt a guy who's never been knocked out before would have the instinct to fake being knocked out. There have been thousands of knockouts where there's a one or two second lapse between getting knocked out and the body stopping to move. Not everyone immediately crumples into a heap.

And if he was faking, that was the best acting job in the history of boxing. The man was SOBBING when he woke up because he thought he lost. The HBO team reported that his leg was twitching when he was down. He seemed to have no idea where the hell he was or what happened. Unless you just think Dirrell wasn't hurt at all, I just don't see where he would have the mental wherewithall to pull all of that off.

 

Dirrell was faking, but he deserved to win. Two things: You never fight with loaded gloves, and you never hit a man when he is down.

 

He wasn't faking. But even if he got up Abe should have been DQ'd. Taking a shot flush to the chin from one of the hardest punchers p4p would knock any fighter out in that division, no way could Dirrell have continued.

 

I know a lot has been made of this and please don't think for a second that I would claim that Dirrell was pretending to be hurt... that said I do think he exaggerated it. Did anyone notice that he raised his hand to his face before he fell, this isn't the behaviour of someone who has lost motor function in their body.

Another doctor? Listen Hippocrates, the rule for disqualifying a fighter that is guilty of an deliberate, egregious foul is not complete and total loss of mortor fuction. He was hurt. We will never know how hurt. What we do know is that he was clearly winning the fight and that Abraham paused for a second and then hit him deliberately while he was on his backside. No, he wasn't even on his knees. Watch the replay. He was down on his ass.
