does anyone has it / knows how it happened ?
it was not a loss to a great fighter.
later puritty fought much better fighters and was only stopped because of cuts. even against vitali klitschko and hassim rahman whom both very legitimately stopped corrie sanders.
was that stoppage on cuts as well ? after just 1 round ?

the fight you are refering to is the Cleveland Woods contest. This was, i think, Ross's 2nd pro fight. Woods had an extensive amatuer career - over 100 fights (so i read somewhere). Ross was never off his feet. MOre than likely it was a late notice job and at that point in there careers Woods just knew too much. Woods didnt do much as a pro and Ross went on to be the gatekeeper for the division, scoring some big upset wins - Wlad, Joe Hipp, J.L Gonzalez....

The only time I ever saw Cleveland woods fight was against Joe Hipp, when Woods was around 4-0. The fight was aired on ESPN, and neither man was viewed as anything particularly special, but it turned out to be a pretty fun fight to watch over the 4 round distance.
