Is he secretly in camp somewhere working his ass off to come in at a good weight for the Adamek fight? In a recent interview he said that he planned on coming in at the high 230's mark. Usually he does a lot of interviews and even posts vids of his training on youtube, but now he is rather quiet for this fight except for the occasional quote or two. Anybody know what the deal is with that?:think
It's difficult for him to talk when his "secret camp" is Alberto's & he's busy stuffing his face with meat, beans, cheese, & tortillas instead of putting in roadwork.
I figured that there would be a ton of jokes and wise-cracks in this thread, and it is to be expected. But seriously, what is up with Arreola being so quiet and under the radar before this fight?
It'll be interesting to see. As yet, he hasn't beaten a top 30 - perhaps not even top 40 - opponent so perhaps he's finally realised that if he wants to join the elite, he needs to dedicate himself like them. As far as I'm concerned, Adamek has it all to lose - Win, and he's beaten a guy who still hasn't beaten anyone of note - I mean, Arreola's record makes Valuev's look legendary - but lose and he's nothing at heavyweight, and will always be nothing.
Seriously though, you think he's doing something different? I was being serious: He's "quiet" because he's got nothing new to talk about. That, & he doesn't wanna choke on a super burrito.
He was saying that before his last fight vs the very jabrony-like Brian Minto. Everyone expected to see him in great shape & instead he was heavier than the fight before. That's when Arreola revealed his "kryptonite": He gets the munchies @ ~9pm every night & Alberto's is open 24/7.
The key to losing weight is not only in the gym but also in the diet. If there is no genetic cause then I would bet Arreola's flabbiness is not due to laziness in physical preparation but due to excessive carb intake. Anyways, I hope he blows Adamek out of the ring and then gets a shot at Haye's WBA belt next year. No use throwing him to the wolves by trying to go after little Klit brother.
I have a feeling he will sneak up on everyone and weigh in around 240. He knows he will have to do a lot of moving around the ring, and if he has half a brain he train for just that. So... Thats what I think, not to mention how his camp all along has been raving about how "light" Arreola will be for this fight. I also found and find it interesting that there are no interviews, videos, anything of him in preperation for this fight. You would figure he would at least give an interview to someone, but not even that. Unless nobody just cares about him to even ask..
Pretty much, if you blow the oportunity he had against Vitaly I'll believe it when I see it. Maybe just maybe that was a wake up call.
I read an interview from him the other day. Said he'd be in the 230's for this fight. Thinks Adamek is a blown up cruiser & said he uses all sorts of 'drugs.' Adamek's manager questioned that & Chris said he was talking about protein/gluten & not steroids.
