I'm not saying that. I'm contesting the OP's assertion that, somehow, the Middleweight division will be better off without Pavlik, and so we should root against him. Whoever wins will in all probability be the best man at 160; if that man is Pavlik, then why would you want rid of him? "May the best man win."

What's sad is that pretty much all he does is post on threads about Pavlik ... about how all Pavlik's fans do is post on threads about Pavlik. :patsch

The champion being the best fighter isn't always the best thing for boxing, as Pavlik's reign proves. Sure, he's the best but what has he done for boxing since beating Taylor? That's why boxing is better off without him.

And 168 isn't a real option because all the Super 6, excluding Green, and Bute beat him there. He isn't a top 5 168lber.

pavlik is a good addition to the division, i don't think he's the best at 160, and can see him having a few losses througout his career with his mainfall being his defense, but he can cause the one punch knockouts, and is one of the better current fighters at 160.

The only thing he did wrong was going up to fight Hopkins, which was actually understandable insofar as it was then perceived as conducive to a Pavlik/Calzaghe monster-fight, which would have been good for boxing as a whole if not the Middleweight division itself. Other than that, he's had an injury to contend with. It's annoying (believe me I know, I'm a Pavlik fan and would like to see him in the ring as often as possible), but you can't do anything about it, and, fundamentally, it's not Pavlik's fault.

Well, I disagree with you on that one, but I don't want to get into that particularly. I like him big against Froch, moderately against Abraham and if he gets past Martinez he has a good shot at Bute, too.

Probably not. Hopkins ruins people especially if he fights them twice.

    Yes it is.

Maravilla will finally get that attention he deserves. The Williams fight was a plus for his career even in defeat.

    Not much.

    No not at all.

How on earth can anyone blame Pavlik for the Williams negotiations? Williams fights in 3,000 seat ballrooms he is not a draw never will be a draw and does not deserve 50% of the purse. Pavlik brings in the HBO money, the fans, everything. Only an idiot would blame Pavlik for this.

Pavlik has taken more **** for a loss then anyone else Ive ever seen. After his loss to Hopkins, Pavlik is now considered terrible and will be beaten by aybody put in front of him.

He learned a lesson against a veteran and very skilled fighter... where as Kessler and Abraham just got schooled by guys who hadn't even had 20 fights yet, Williams was also schooled and handed a loss by a guy who was just KO'd by Berto and was KO'd brutally by Cotto before he faced Williams.....however people have not written these fighters off, people still think they can win future matches and claim their issues for losing were "Bad style match ups"..........

It really isn't fair how Pavlik has been treated lately, he is a nice guy and is always willing to get in the ring and put on a good show. I will be rooting for him tonight.

Pavlik's last fight could only sell 3,000 in his HOME TOWN... Bob Arum banned the bars from showing the fight to try and get more people to buy tickets... neither are much of a draw.

So who's fault is it that the fight was signed twice, but the fight never came off?

Only an idiot would blame the guy who never postponed, and decided to move on after having spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on two failed training camps, because the other side was gambling with the fighter's health. I don;t think Pav is personally scared, but his team was very unprofessional about the way they handled the whole ordeal.
