I take my hat off to Audley Harrison. Me myself, I think I would have quit by now. Probably before, but certainly after the Rogan fight. He obviously knows he is a laughing stock in the boxing community, and yet he's still trying - even though he gets booed and jeered even when he wins. The Prizefighter win gave him a bit of confidence back, and the Sprott fight gave him a bit more. He's got loads of positives to take from those fights, especially the Sprott one which I think proved that he can take a punch, grit his teeth when the odds are against him, and deliver a knockout when he needs one. For me, it's all about confidence with Audley. I know he talks like he has this complete self belief, but look at him in the ring - he so often appears completely scared. If he can now conquer that problem, then he's a problem for anyone out there. Next fight Dimitrenko - early rounds KO. More confidence. After that, say he gets a chance against Wladimir Klitschko. It's possible, and if he did then you know I'd back him to win. I know logic and history would say he'd lose, but just maybe? I for one am on Audley's side. I love boxing, but I'm a bit of a sentimentalist at heart too. I'd love to see the man achieve his dream. ps I'm new to the forum so if this topic has already been done to death I'm sorry. Just wondered if anyone out there felt like I do...
I have no issue with comebacks etc My issue is with talking **** continously and not backing it up. Nevertheless, I do feel so sorry for him that I want him to succeed to a semi decent level. You've got to give it to him, he has avenged 2 of his losses. I'd rather see him fight Rogan and Guinn after Dimentriko but at this age he doesn't have all the time in the world for rebuilding. He can't beat the champs so I'd like to see him clear up his record.
I have to say that Harrisons critics have brought me round to his side with their venom. I was delighted when he won the EBU title.
I've been backing him all the way since we went to the same University. Up to round 11 of the Sprott fight though I was thinking he just isnt cut out for pro boxing I was probably the only person their cheering him. If he gets a world title shot against one of the Klitschko's and puts a good showing, even if he gets KOd he'll have redeemed himself somewhat. But if he just covers up and looks to survive then I can't defend him
Respect? he has under achieved by a long long way.... He was lucky to win against sprott.. who looked pretty poor in his last fight. One handed or not. He was poor at times. His problem is mental. I'm sure of it. He's such a lucky ****er though I wouldn't be shocked if he landed a big fight and won.
