Don't get butthurt, it's the truth. Ray Robinson is the best ever, but he comes from a different era. Styles back then were somewhat crude compared to today.

 

True. This isn't about Pac, this is a thread about hating on Pac and his fans. I voted against Sugar just as I vote against the obvious answer in dumb questions that's meant to discredit a fighter. Another dumb thing is the people that never seen a Sugar fight but voted on Sugar just because they always heard he was the best.

The reality is depending on the scenario you set up, SRR can lose to Pac as he can lose to almost any decent MODERN boxer you put in front of him.

Are you putting up a SRR from the 1950s, with 1950s training, 1950s technique, 1950s fitness, 1950s rules, etc. etc. vs a boxer of today? Modern referee? Modern judges?

Do this and 99 out of 100, the modern boxer will win. And this is true for most sports. The bigger the time between the competitors the higher the chances for the modern athlete.

People are bunch of sheeps because they read "SRR" in ESB - so they automatically think "SRR = TKO".

I never said Pacquaio beats Robinson, but it's never a foregone conclusion. We're talking about fighters from two completely different era's. This is like a 60 year difference. Boxing has changed. Styles back then were different. Has Robinson fought anybody like Manny Pacquiao? I think not. It would be a fight worth seeing.

I would probably give that title to Ricardo Lopez but SSR is still above him as far as being one of the(if not THE) greatest fighter ever!

The guy is the ATG but to say he is a perfect fight is either ignorant or licking jock straps. Have you actually seen him fight?

He shows all the tell tale signs of fighters of his era that is considered a flaw today - flat footed in defense and offense, his looping body shots, he often shoots lazy jabs, his left hands where low, etc.

Don't confuse achievements with this technical skills. He is the greatest not for his technical skills but for his achievements. PBF is far technically superior to SRR but SRRs achievement is far superior to PBF.

Why do people try and match up SRR who fought for the Light heavyweight title with Pac and SRL Who held the Light Heavy title with JR ? Pac is at best a 140lber fighting welters and JR is a 147lber fighting light weights. SRR and SRL had speed to burn and were much stronger.

Highlighted part 1: thats bull**** watch Robinson fight against LaMotta, watch how he throws from body to head with split second timing, also watch how perfect his timing and accuracy is, and watch how he can triple the left hook, he is actually throwing three left hooks in a second, theres is no modern fighter today that is a fit and as good a fighter as Robinson was, I mean look how much energy he has in the 13th round of that fight he able to throw 8 punch combination's, all landing beatifully on target, no modern fighter does that.

Highlighted part 2: I used to think that Robinson was a bit overated to ( I had him in my top 3, but I did'nt think he was as good as he is made out to be) but since doing more research and watching him in his prime and the reasons I stated before (check my post's on page 11), I defiantly considered him the best ever no doubt in my mind.
