It has nothing to do with what Oscar was doing. It was what Mayweather was doing. The weight obviously had an effect. If you've watched Mayweather as long as I have you'd know that he's never been that flat footed. Never that slow. And he was only 150lbs. Add 10lbs to that little frame of that. He'd be a baby james toney. :rofl

Floyd would probably be tricky for Pavlik, win a few rounds, maybe 4 at the most, but every time Pavlik caught Mayweather it would hurt him. Pavlik would basically be able just to lean back and make Mayweather come in. And Mayweather doesnt have the combination punching Martinez or the footwork at that weight. He's giving up 4-5 inches in height and 3 inches in reach. You are confused because you see pure boxers like Martinez and Hopkins doing this to Pavlik, you forget that both MArtinez and Hopkins are much much bigger then Mayweather.

Mayweather already got beat by a brawler (Castillo).
Dawson already got beat by a brawler/slugger (Johnson).
Martinez already got beat by a brawler/slugger (Margarito).

    Nice try, dumbass.

I agreed with your points on this matchup, but I had too many doubts about the size advantage in Pavlik's favor. I thought Kelly was at least good enough to use that effectively, but I overrated him. Never again.

Maravilla had a momentary lapse in the middle rounds and got caught by one of the few shots that Pavlik timed well while he was off balance. I had him comfortably ahead before that. He responded by stepping on the gas and taking the fight away from a much bigger man in there. Heart, guts, and skill.

Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez is something else. Props to everyone who knew he would win.

It's funny how the 'puzzy runners' always seem to beat the hell out of the 'tough warriors'.

Both Dawson and Mayweather got the nod, then dominated in the rematches. Martinez was 25 when he lost to Margarito and only 20 when he started boxing.

He'd been over Margarito like a ***** if they fought now.

    Face it, sluggers are scrubs.

I'd say Pavlik didn't step up his game, he was coming off a long lay off and you need to get comfortable in the ring, not the way to do that against a fast boxer like martinez.

I liked the fight though it was slightly competitive

Lol yep. But you must remember to people who find guys like Pavlik and Froch attractive style wise, they dont have the smarts to appreciate footwork and subtle skill, such as slipping punches, using angles, and using your brain.

I was trying to explain to some dope on here that the Mongolians who built the largest land empire in history would feign retreat, then when the stupid slugger i.e opposing army would break formation and rush in, they'd reform and catch the opponent off guard and obliterate then. I find it analogous to counter punchers.

Mayweather wasn't as bad as you make out. He looked a bit slower, but fine at the weight. He's weighed heavier, fighting at welter, hasn't he?

I'm not confused about anything, I just know how to read styles.

Oh that's right. They got the nod because we all know that the judges scorecard is holy and we should not stray from it or else we will have sinned.

Bit slower at 150. How do you'd think he'd look at 160? Like I said, if you've been following Mayweather as long as I have you'd know the weight effected him. He has a 5'8 frame. He's small. He cant give up that kind of height and reach without him being effected

Nope. You see Bernard Hopkins and Mayweather as similar fighters, you just forget that Hopkins was always a light heavyweight fighting at middle an that he is much bigger then Mayweather. Same with Martinez.

Oh and Oscar may be better then Pavlik pound for pound, but Pavlik would've KO'd the Oscar Floyd fought. Oscar struggled with Sturm and lost that fight. Pavlik is better then Sturm.

Not sure Martinez is a pure boxer, he's a mix of it all, a late starter on boxing and a truly unique type of athlete.

    I like it! :deal

Definately would not call Martinez a pure boxer. Hell of an athlete though.
