Assuming shields end up moving to ufc and move back down to 170. He has great BJJ and he knows how to used it when he gets you on the ground. This should be a great match with GSP wrestling and shields BJJ.

No. I really don't think anybody beats GSP at 170 to be honest.

He has look unbeatable lately but shields has great BJJ and he has the size to match up with gsp. It's hard to keep gsp down but shields have the size advantage over him. I was impress at how easily shields got the full mount on dan henderson.

GSP is a strong mother ****er and at 170 that will play to him more so. His wrestling is top notch and he is in his prime.

I don't see anyway Jake keeps the mount on him like he did on Hendo, or keep securing the take downs.

GSP takes it either round 4-5 T/KO or UD.

    GSP all night, IMO.

no chance in hell he cant take gsp down and gsp can take him down at will or take him down and grind out a decision or ground and pound him

I think GSP wins by KO. It'll come down to who's the better striker and Shields is freakin awful on his feet.

I think in that case GSP would keep it standing and try to catch Shields, who shows pretty poor striking defense. Also, I suspect that Henderson doesn't much practice takedown defense or anything off his back like sweeps or what the **** to do when mounted. He looked totally lost, which GSP wouldn't since he's much more into BJJ. I think Shields showed that he's a hell of a grappler but again I got the impression that Henderson just assumed that no one would try to take him down and if they did he'd just naturally stuff it based on his olympic pedigree and when he realized he couldn't stuff it he had no plan B.

    No, no and NO.
    Hendo is SLOW
    GSP is EXPLOSIVE and FAST.
Shield will eat a HLK trying a takedown.
Finally, a fight that GSP will keep standing and shut his haters a little.

I know Henderson is an elite wrestler who got manhandled last night but consider a few things. Henderson is aging, not as fast or athletic as GSP, kinda inconsistent at 185 I truely believe he sometimes struggles with the cut. GSP would own Shields in the standup and would Shields be able to be more successful with takedown attempts then Fitch, Koscheck or Hughes ? Possibly but I doubt it. GSP is probablly the most dedicated fighter in MMA and somehow despite no wrestling background IMO is the best wrestler.

Shields grappling is really good but Henderson is awful off his back. Shields will be badly out struck standing up and I can't see him keeping GSP down, even if he is lucky enough to take him down or put him on his back.
