You made me out to be accusing you of bias against old-timers when I said no such thing, only to tell me in the exact same post not to assume.

    Sean -

Don't get into this to much right now. Your list is pretty bad at first look, and your criteria are not satisfying to most posters - greatness qualifies your fighters then it's a skillset list with bonus points for great achievment. The problem with this system is you could literally justify any list with shades of grey.

    Just saying.

But none of that matters, it's cool that you put the list up and maybe some guys will put up some other lists and that will give you something to get your teeth into.

Joe Calzaghe above Freddie Welsh? I know it's hard to narrow down, but come on...

you said that that I rate Radolph Turpin ahead of Fitzsimmons because Turpin has a more modern style, thats assumption because I never mentioned style.

I then mentioned my rating of Jack Johnson as proof that I not biased against old fighters style

haha, it sounds ludicrous dosnt it? but I think joe being undefeated 2 weight champion has a lot to do with it. he had a poor division but just kept winning, even though hopkins was old and however dubious the decision, bernard was on P4P lists at that time. This is so much harder than atg heavyweights.:hey

You find Jack Johnson as impressive on film (as in you think he'd fare well head to head) as many modern stylists? Or you rate him highly based on his achievements? I can't see the argument for either, personally.

Anyways, I'm wandering. I get what you're saying, but the assumption I made was a logical one. Most people, given their technical understanding of the boxing rules and regulations, would favor a guy like Turpin over Fitz under modern rules. The flaw with that reasoning is that you could favor a whole slew of modern fighters over much more accomplished and proven commodities like Fitzsimmons or really any fighter of that era.

You have to balance your ranking system, unless you simply rank pre-modern and post-modern fighters in different categories, which you don't.
