Nobody said upbringing has no affect. Spanking traditionally has been shown to have an affect. It teaches that violence is wrong through fear and violence.

The problem is we don't have the tools to properly train psychopaths. Nobody in todays society can provide for the traditional upbringing which might have worked in the past. I also want to say that if it's a psychopath with violent instincts no amount of upbringing can fix that. Violent instincts are like sexual urges and just as if someone is born gay, they are born violent.

Valero's on borrowed time right now. He won't live to see 2011, mark my words. They don't play that in Venezuela.

The difference between Monzon and Valero is that Monzon had a hall of fame worthy career before he self destructed and did his despicable crime, Valero wasted his own potential before he had a chance to fulfill it. I don't condone what Monzon did to his wife but I do admire his boxing skills, you have to seperate Monzon the boxer with Monzon the human being when looking at him, just in the way I think MJ was a great singer but a horrible man.

That's a mindbogglingly stupid post even for this place.

You know next to nothing as to what has happened with regards to this case. To say otherwise is pure stupidity on your part.

Lots of children get abused. When a child with a conscience is abused they grow up and take it out on the abusers. When a child without a conscience is abused, they abuse the world. The problem is that children without a conscience cannot be raised as if they have empathy, remorse or compassion.

So how do you teach right from wrong? It's all reward and punishment. You reward good behavior and you punish bad behavior and it must be absolutely consistent. So murder is wrong because we will punish you if you do it.

Didn't see this was posted and my thread was moved. The man went to the hotel lobby and told them he killed his wife and that her body was in the room. So, he already confessed

This is a little along the lines of the nature vs. nurture argument. Not trying to be funny, I actually agree with this method.

    Police: Valero admits guilt

    http://www.fightnews.com/?p=43265

Wilmer Flores Trosel, CICPC director, has announced that lightweight world champion Edwin Valero admitted guilt in the murder of his wife early this morning in Valencia, Venezuela. According to police, Mrs. Valero had three stab wounds on different parts of her body. The wounds were not deep and police didn’t find a knife or razor in the room. Investigators hypothesize that the crime occurred during a fight. The couple had checked into the hotel at around 11:30PM last night. At about 5:30AM, Valero went to the hotel lobby and confessed to hotel staffers, who called police. Valero was taken into custody without incident.

Sad day for boxing. Shouldn't really suprise anyone, all the signs were there and they let this guy walk every time.

    Pathetic and tragic.
