The idea Vitaly was preserving his career must have got lost in translation because the translator commentating at the time said he said 'It hurts too much'. Interesting that the original excuses made for him were he hurt it in the first round. If he hurt it in the first round i dont see the preservation of his career excuse standing up since he went 8 or 9 rounds with the injury before deciding it just wasnt worth risking his career.
