This 'single shot' criticism is such a load of tripe. It's overlooked that he can three single shots in very quick succession so it's almost a staggered combo to all intents and purposes.

Throwing conventional combinations is just not his thing and the single shots are very effective whilst being complimentary to his defence cause he can duck and remove himself from the line of fire after every one. If he was throwing 2's and 3's he would leave himself more open to getting countered, possibly.

based on what? His pitiful resume? His lacklustre performances?

Skills are admirable, but he's barely tested himself since losing to Castillo the first time round.

Nothing wrong with needing the time to adjust, but against a hard-punching, fast-starting opponent (Mosley/Pacquaio) that could be costly. He's generally gotten away with it because of his defence. But he didn't look so good against Judah for four rounds.

He's never been a fluid puncher, ive seen all his fights.

Its all stop, start...stop start....misses a pot shot, he will go straight back into his defence.....i don't know weather its a mental thing, or just lack of ability.

If he was a "Natural Fluid puncher" he would of stopped JMM via TKO.

Watching Floyd Mayweather is like watching a NFL game.

This type of behaviour that he has shown, over the past half a decade.

Is gonna get him beat up against Shane Mosley.

Floyd's a very talented fighter, particularly in his defensive style. He turns every punch over, he's incredibly accurate, and his decision making and punch selection are only equalled by Pacquaio right now. He's very rarely out of position, his balance is impeccable. In short, he's amongst the absolute best fighters in the world right now.

But let's be clear, he has flaws which, through canny matchmaking, haven't been exposed to a great degree. Against Castillo there's clear evidence that he doesn't handle volume-punching well - he didn't really adapt well that night. It was a long time ago though, so let's give him a pass on that.

Against Judah he was constantly getting hit with the left lead every time Judah committed to it. Floyd came on so strong because Judah gassed and was unable to mount combination punching. Floyd's body work early on played a part in that.

Against Oscar he never found an answer for the jab. He never really adjusted, except for some excellent counter-punching off the ropes, and he was lucky that Oscar gassed, as he always did in his big fights. Even then, one judge scored it for Oscar.

These are flaws and they are caused by technical failing Floyd has. As with any fighter though, those flaws are out-weighed by Floyd's marked strengths, which is why he's a great fighter (but not an all time great).
