Mayweather wins this. <yweather would just pick his punches all the way to UD. Martinez has his defense issues, he has still have to improve it imo.
Shane Mosley is just another padding on Mayweather's resume.. boring as hell, and criminally overrated by the people behind Floyd (The Ring etc.). Martinez at 147 or 154 would be a much much more interesting fight. But it has to happen within 12 months, because Martinez is getting old.
He hasn't been to 147 since 2001. Could he get down to that weight? I don't think so without draining himself to the point uselessness in the ring. Plus, I remember Mayweather saying once he would take on anyone 154 and down.
I think Floyd wins this match. Too often, folks over react to a recent performance (see Martinez's dismantling of Pavlik). However, the speedy Spaniard would be certainly be competitive in this fight. I see Floyd earning a split decision, though I suspect each fighter will have his moments.
look, i predicted martinez to beat pavlik, and i get my predictions correct, so let me say this, floyd mayweather is not pavlik, he's not going to come forward in one dimensional fashion like pavlik, so no, martinez would most likely not beat floyd. anway, why are people suddenly talking about floyd fighting guys at 147? scared he's going to prove himself at 147 now, so now people are talking about 154, is that why?
Not saying who would win but... against Floyd, I bet Martinez wouldn't have to take his mid round rest.
I think Floyd wins a split decision in a close fight with Martinez getting the better of the first few rounds, then Floyd ad******g to get the better of the close rounds in the middle before Martinez comes on strong in the end to take the last couple.
Well, I think it's just that there are only 2 people that have any chance whatsoever against Floyd at WW currently; Mosley and Pacquiao....and Mosley doesn't have a great chance. However, the Mosley question will be answered in 2 weeks, and a Mayweather vs Pacquiao unofficial poll opens itself up in threads on a nearly daily basis. It's a fantasy matchup that will never happen and it's a fight that would test both fighters a great deal, I like it.
Not directed at me, but it will probably never happen, not because Floyd's afraid of challenges but because where's the money? Sergio hasn't been a headliner on a PPV, his fight with Pavlik only drew 6,147 or something like that, and he's a "man without a country" as opposed to being a Mexican icon, an English icon, a Puerto Rican icon, or a boxing legend. It just wouldn't be worth his time. Unfortunately, Martinez is 35, had he had this run earlier in his career this is a fight that could have been made with the momentum he has.
