Lee will dominate and stop Thiam pretty easily, I'm not going to complain about the opponent considering the rest of the card and the fact the show is less than 4 weeks away. That card in Belfast is looking interesting, can't wait to see the opponents.
Lees defence will want to be solid for this banger. Thats the biggest fear for me with Andy his defence at times is his down fall. He doesnt know the basics and when the right time to hold when he is hurt. Its sink or swim for Andy if he wins this and gets the Barker fight I can see Andy taking Barker out and winning the European crown after that it could lead to anything. Any news on Matt Macklin when or who is going to fight again? Would love to see him trying to get a fight with Sylvester.
Andy Lee to face Senegalese fighter Monday, 19 April 2010 14:55 Former European Champion and two time World title challenger Mamadou Thiam has been confirmed as Andy Lee's next opponent for their headline clash on the Yanjing Fight Night at the University Sports Arena, Limerick on Saturday, 15 May. The Senegalese born fighter has a fearsome reputation as one of the sports biggest punchers with 43 of his 46 wins coming by KO. Promoter Brian Peters believes that Thiam could prove to be the final hurdle for Lee ahead of a possible challenge for Darren Barker's European title. 'If Andy can get past Thiam then I believe that his next fight should be for the European title and I'd be very confident of bringing that fight to Limerick,' revealed Peters. Now 38 Thiam's globe trotting career has already seen him fight in ten countries (France, Guadeloupe, the U.S., Germany, Canada, Hungary, Denmark, Bosnia And Herzegovina, Croatia and Switzerland) and included six European title fights and two unsuccessful World title challenges at Light Middleweight to boxing legend Felix Trinidad and Santiago Samaniego. Lee is currently training for the bout in the U.S. and will have been a keen observer at the weekend as the WBC and WBO World Middleweight titles changed hands with Sergio Martinez's impressive points win over defending champion Kelly Pavlik. The undercard for the Yanjing Fight Night has also been strengthened with the news that World and European Champion Katie Taylor will also feature in an international amateur contest. Undefeated Cavan star Andy Murray will be looking to continue his perfect record and follow on from his impressive win over Oisin ***an in the main event on RTÉ's last Pro Box Live show. The 27-year-old lightweight has 18 straight wins to his name in the pro ranks and is currently rated number 3 in Europe. This content is protected
Got my tickets for it today, it's shaping up to be a crackin night of boxing. I'd be slightly worried about Andy in with a big puncher. Not that he has a bad chin, but when he gets caught he can get rattled and then caught repeatedly. I'm hoping to see an improved version of him. Hoping Perez has a decent opponent.
wow just seen Edwin Valero commited suicide after murdering his wife what a tragedy he had a bright future ahead of him kinda reminds me of darren sutherland R.I.P Edwin
Heres Doug from Sligo talking about Sean Mannion And Mannion himself talking to Bunce [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbeFtQlOn-0&feature=player_embedded[/ame]
I'm sorry mate but this is nothing like Sutherland Valero has been beating his wife for a while he killed her on saturday and then topped himself last night. People will make excuses but **** me man he murdered some one in cold blood IMO he doesnt deserve to be mentioned in the same Beath as Darren Valero was talented but no one can deny that the dude was warped
Come here lads lets not get up too far on our high horses on this one. He was was a mentally unstable drug addict who had a cerebral haemorrhage after a motorcycle crash in which he wasn't wearing a helmet. I don't excuse what happend with his wife but the man definitely wasn't 100% there and I have no doubt his taking his own life was directly connected to an instant and deep remorse at his actions. He was a man not in control of himself and its a double tragedy that he and his wife have both lost thier lives and a lot of people will be doubly hurt and effected by it. As a boxer I thought he was absolute value for money and a good old fashioned brawler. I always regarded him as great value for money and exciting a puncher as there has been in who knows how long. RIP El Inca
No one is disputing his talent I'm as big a fan of Valero as yourself but **** me man I cant just sweep what he did under the carpet I was disgusted when I heard about him beating his missus Then he went and killed her man the history was there it wasnt like he was docile and all of a sudden changed into a raving loonatic, dude had a history...
