I couldn't punch hard enough to break an egg. Well, perhaps a chicken egg but certainly not an ostrich egg. My career ko percentage was less than 20%, but I somehow stopped two Hall-of-Famers. Who am I?
No. Delaney could punch. Sharkey had a higher ko percentage than that. I am not thinking of Loughran. What two Hall-of-Famers did he stop? *I will give you a clue--this fighter is not in the Hall-of-Fame himself, but he stopped two Hall-of-Famers.
No I meant Sharkey scored only 13 career knockout victories and two were over hall of famers Loughran and Delaney
No. What two Hall-of-Famers did he stop? This fighter is not this well known. He was a decent contender, but not a great fighter himself. He stopped two great fighters, though, even though he apparently didn't have much of a punch.
No. This is not that kind of trick question. This man was a real fighter who stopped two Hall-of-Famers in real fights.
I have to be going. I'll look in again this afternoon. *another clue--one of the Hall-of-Famers he stopped has often been considered the very best fighter ever at his weight and is frequently among lists of the best p4p fighters of all time.
Joe Shugrue stopped Benny Leonard and Owen Moran. He had a KO % of less then 19%. Joey Sangor stopped Sammy Mandell and Bud Taylor. He had a KO % of less then 8%.
Percy Pugh?I don't know who he stopped or what his record was, can't even remember what weight class.I just remember he had the punch of a fly swatter.
Bingo. The fellow I was thinking of was Joe Shugrue. I was not thinking of Sangor, but the clue of one of the top p4p fighters eliminates him, I think. Good work, Henry. I think this was a fairly tough one.
It was a good one. I got into it a little late as I am still making out the material for tonight election. I actually came up with Sangor 1st BUT Sammy Mandell and Bud Taylor or not considered p4p boxers, and Benny Leonard is.
