Does the Pavlik-Marinez fight prove that Paul Williams is not overrated?

It was claimed on here after the Williams-Martinez fight that, that fight proved he was overrated, it was also claimed before the Pavlik-Martinez fight that Pavlik would show everyone how overrated he is, well to all the people who said this, is it now clear that Williams is not overrated?

I still rated him as high, but I know some people thought he was a piece of **** for winning.

IMO Williams would likely lose to all 3 top WWs, and in embarrasing fashion as well. The MW division is very shallow, Pavlik got raped by a 43 yr old man, he is simply a 1 dimensional guy who came around at the right time. As for Martinez good fighter but not great, Pavlik simply isn't too good.

I think it was more of coming out party for Sergio than a condemnation of Paul.

Paul will always be an incredibly difficult puzzle so long as he fights in his weight classes, even if he isn't the most skilled.

He is still overhyped. Martinez beat him IMO and alot of other peoples mind. Also that wasnt even with a full training camp. Now with a full camp. PW gets beat even more decisively.
However i still think Pavlik beats PW. Martinez showed great angles and defense so he very rarely got hit flush. With PW that wouldnt be the case.

Wasnt too long ago that people were talkin about Williams fighting PBF if i remember correctly. So whats changed? He has scored a win over Marinez, and suddently he is overrated? Not quiet sure i understand.

The old agage "styles make fights" is so appropriate here. Williams beats Martinez who beats Pavlik who beats Williams. Why? Styles. Are any of them going down as all time greats? No. Will they make entertaining fights for the next few years? Yes.

Martinez's win over Pavlik doesn't prove anything about Williams imo. I would still slightly favour Pavlik in a potential fight with PW, but PW would have good chances of pulling it off.

As far as I'm concerned the plain fact that Williams has a spectacular record and resume and yet ducked by everyone of consequence shows that while some fans don't think highly of Williams the other fighters obviously think quite a bit of him. That to me says that Williams is under-rated by the general public.

Williams is what he is, a punching machine who can bang and take a shot... on workrate alone he will beat a lot of fighters.

however he cannot handle southpaws, as demonstrated by quintana and martinez.

that said he can always try brawling those types as shown in quintana 2 and martinez.

he is what he is, not overly skilled, but he will beat most out there and more importantly he is exciting

Are you ******ed? Williams wasn't in full training camp either to prepare for 1 fighter. Williams was at first preparing to fight Pavlik but then he has to change his training for a 3 weeks notice to prepare for Martinez a different fighter with a far different style. And don't say Martinez was never in training camp before he find out he'll face Williams cause Martinez was suppost to fight a tune up fight in december but that change as well so he has to change training camp too.

^^^The bottom line is both had a 3 weeks of train to prepare to face each other. So don't give me this **** about "Martinez this" , "Martinez that.
