Except for Castillo the first time round. Gatti was hardly a defensive whiz either. Sadly he isn't at the lighter weights any more. He's a distinctly uninspiring welter.

No he's not.

he beat the lineal champ. then beat the guy who he'd beaten, after plenty of people doubted the win.

He then beat the best lww out there, who was physically the more-or-less same, given where they'd both started in weight. He had a tremendous victory against ODLH n all, people laughed at hi challenging the golden boy only a year or o earlier.

The guy has plenty of flaws, but I never thought it's reach a stage that he's underrated.

Ricky was not 'more or less the same size' as Mayweather. Mayweather was a fully-fledged WW, Ricky was not. Hatton had looked abysmal since beating Tyszu.

The Judah win was good, no doubt, but nothing amazing. Meanwhile, he was avoiding Margarito, Cotto, Williams, Cintron... all much better fighters than Judah or Baldomir.

And Oscar. For such a tremendous victory, why did he only get the SD? Against a part-time, rusty, disinterested Oscar? He's just not as good as his biggest fans make out.

hes not fluid in the sence that he dosent trow combos a great deal but his one - two is very fluid and his style isnt about fluid combos but im sure he can throw them


he misses he defends thats what you should do unless you wanna get hit

I rate PBF as one of the best of all time stylistically. There will be no way any other fighter now or in the future will have a more impressive record of those from years gone by due to the fact that todays fighters are lucky to fight twice a year whereas Robinson and La Motta etc of yesteryear had more fights than hot dinners. However, we still get to decide on who has the classier looking style and imo Floyd is the most polished fighter today and one of the best of all time. There isnt really any fighters who's record cant be torn apart. I think Manny Pacs record is far more leaky than Floyds and its been a while since he faced a prime fighter too. Every coin has 2 sides

If you want to be really harsh you can pick Pac's record apart above 130 - but you would be a real Professor Hindsight.

Diaz = handpicked
DLH = shot, badly weight drained
Hatton = mentally not right, good style match
Cotto = damaged goods, tight at 145
Clottey = knows what side his bread is buttered

etc etc

Given that he's 5-1-1 over Barrera, Marquez and Morales (arguably 4-3 but we'll leave that there) I think to call his record weak is harsh.

The only thing you could criticise is that he's never unified a division - but what's more important.... unifying a division or beating the best fighters within it, given that it's two different things these days :think

 

He has THE best record of any current active fighter IMO.
