    I sure did.

I was actually shocked how bad he looked in the ring.

Put the caption on. Between the 9th and 10th..Pavlik- "I cant see, I cant see".

I distinctly remember hearing the cutman ask someone unseen by the camera in the corner what coagulants they had available. I don't know what round, but I'm sure he was asking around. The cutman showed up without skill AND without proper supplies.

Honestly, after watching the first three minutes of the fight, I felt like Pavlik simply failed to train sufficiently for this fight. He had no spring in his legs like he did when he was on his way up. His speed was completely absent and while his power was still on tap, he couldn't put together anything sustainable. I wonder if he simply failed to take Sergio seriously and trained too lightly early, and didn't actually step it up until late in the training camp. To me, he looked flat.

In the immortal words of Don King, he wanted to quit like a dog!

Much easier than simply admitting he is a lesser fighter isnt it.

A lot of people in the boxing community refer to Martinez as a kid. This is because unlike Pavlik and the majority of boxers who start as kids, Martinez started as an adult. He first started boxing at 20 years old, so in the boxing world, he is a kid.

i remember hbo commentators saying something along the lines of "did you hear what pavlik said?" getting toward the end of the fight but i missed what he actually said and the hbo crew didnt specifically say what he said. i wouldnt be surprised. he looked like a beaten man in that corner from the 9th round on.

best work I've ever seen from a cut man was John Duddy V Smichet. I know a lot of people here hate Duddy but like him or hate him you have to give that cut man some credit. Those cuts were to the bone and they stopped the bleeding and Duddy was forced to change his game plan and Smichet eventually gassed while wasting a lot of energy trying to stop him via cuts.

That's pretty funny. I remember his cornermen kept telling him let your hands go/knock this "kid" out, etc.

Which other good boxers started late?

Hmmm. I can't think of too many off of the top of my head.

Michael Grant started late. I believe he was watching a boxing match and thought, "I can do that" then started his career.

Julio Cesar Chavez Snr and Jr both didn't have amateur careers.

    Hopkins started in prison

Rahmin only had like 7 amateur fights.
